Red Sprite (a Touhou LW original) refers to a type of electric discharge that occurs in the mesosphere. This is an apt temperament for Tenshi, who descended from Heaven. Tenshi is endowed with Earth Phase as a member of the Hinanawi clan that serves the Nawi clan (strong against Fire Phase but weak to Wood Phase), Metal Phase since she's a celestial who lives in Heaven (strong against Earth Phase but weak to Fire Phase), and Water Phase thanks to the Water Web of Heaven and Earth (strong against Metal Phase but weak to Earth Phase). Thus, she is strong against Metal Phase but weak to Wood Phase.
The ability of Tenshi Hinanawi from the world shrouded in scarlet mist (a Touhou LW original). It is essentially the same as our version of Tenshi's ability. Tenshi had always intended to come down from Heaven to play, but never so soon. She had to expedite her plans because the Scarlet Mist Incident had lasted too long, and its influence had spread too far. She was also unable to procure the Sword of Hisou, so she took a different artifact instead―the Water Web of Heaven and Earth. Thus, this Tenshi came down to Gensokyo with different motives and a different main weapon. Tenshi thought it might be necessary to cleanse the entire Earth with a great flood because the scarlet mist had completely decimated the land with almost no hope of recovery. Tenshi is a celestial, so it goes without saying that she is much smarter and wiser than anyone down on the ground. Even if she's considered a good-for-nothing upstart by other celestials, she is still superior to everyone in Gensokyo purely due to the fact that she's a celestial. That's why she decided to descend from Heaven before things truly became irreversible. However, she soon regretted not making that decision sooner. Tenshi was annoyed that the ongoing disturbance prevented her from playing in Gensokyo. She wanted her first descent from Heaven to be fun. In Heaven, she had a bird's eye view of the incidents, their resolutions, and all the bullet battles since before the official rules had even been established. Competitors in battles of bullets get attacked from all sides in three dimensions, but from a celestial's perspective, it looked like a simple game where you merely had to weave through the gaps in a horizontal plane. Thinking she had uncovered some great secret, she falsely assumed she could do whatever she liked down in Gensokyo. She was soon faced with the reality that the girls fighting in battles of bullets were merely pieces on a game board and that the incidents were truly decided by the players who controlled those pieces. That's why the Gensokyo Sages exist. This led Tenshi to believe that the mist was their doing. However, after investigating some more, she realized it wasn't that simple. The other celestials look down on Tenshi, but there's no denying that she possesses quick wits and a cunning mind. With a little bit of guile, she easily managed to get the other celestials to tell her what she wanted to know. There are a few edge cases, like the Hinanawi clan, but Heaven is mostly populated by beings who have attained enlightenment. However, Heaven is not their final destination. All celestials are fated to eventually leave this realm and reincarnate elsewhere according to the laws of the karmic cycle. Apparently, there is a way to free oneself from this cycle, called liberation or emancipation, and this is probably the ultimate stage of enlightenment. So where do the people who have attained this enlightenment go? Nobody knows, but since the number of these people can only increase, it makes one question whether the number of souls in the universe is constant. Then again, nothing stipulates that people can only reincarnate in one direction from the past to the future... Celestials have spent countless years pondering and formulating their own ideas and philosophies about this subject. Having heard all this, Tenshi concluded that just thinking about stuff like that sounds incredibly boring. But she was also delighted and proud that she could actually put this knowledge to use. The karmic cycle and the universe are one and the same, so those freed from the cycle must leave the universe. However, there are multiple universes. And if there are boundaries between these universes, then it should be possible for that youkai, who's always watching, to cross them. The Water Web of Heaven and Earth is a mighty artifact that can fully manipulate Water Phase temperament. It is also known as the "Muroken Konmou" or the "Mist Dew Qian-Kun Net," and it originally belonged to a certain celestial princess. However, like most artifacts of Heaven, the Water Web can choose who wields it, so its capabilities are limited by Tenshi's strength and its relationship with her. Artifacts are special magic items that can do all sorts of things, but the most powerful ones are said to have defined personalities. The Water Web cannot speak in its current form, so it communicates in other ways, but perhaps one day, it will take a different form that has a vocal apparatus. Tenshi heard from a poem-loving celestial and a sword-loving celestial that this artifact's rightful owner is a renowned and celebrated celestial... Of course, Tenshi didn't ask her for permission to borrow it. The Water Web figured that it would rather be wielded by someone inexperienced with artifacts than never get used at all.
The Spread Shot of Tenshi Hinanawi from the world shrouded in scarlet mist (a Touhou LW original). She collects a sample of mist from the contemptible world down below. If she had taken the Sword of Hisou with her from Heaven, this attack would've probably been the move called "Sword of Karma." But since she wasn't able to take that sword, she attacks by manipulating water temperament with the Water Web of Heaven and Earth. There's no way Tenshi would let the scarlet mist spread all the way up into Heaven without a fight.
The Focus Shot of Tenshi Hinanawi from the world shrouded in scarlet mist (a Touhou LW original). She creates a swirling vortex of water in the air. If she had brought more keystones with her, this attack would've probably been the move called "Keystone Spinning Top." She wasn't able to take that many keystones with her from Heaven, so she attacks by manipulating water temperament with the Water Web of Heaven and Earth. The Nawi and Hinanawi clans probably regulate the use of keystones.
A Spell Card of Tenshi Hinanawi from the world shrouded in scarlet mist (a Touhou LW original). If history had followed its proper course, this attack would've probably been the "Earth Sign: Qian & Kun Earthquake Strike" Spell Card. Instead, she uses the Water Web of Heaven and Earth's power to cause liquefaction. Wait, wasn't there a giant catfish that could do this too? Tenshi and that catfish seem to share the ability to cause earthquakes, but is that all they share...?
A Spell Card of Tenshi Hinanawi from the world shrouded in scarlet mist (a Touhou LW original). If history had followed its proper course, this attack would've probably been the "Keystone: Diffuse Qian & Kun Rumbling Cannon" Spell Card. Instead, she uses the Water Web of Heaven and Earth's power to shoot out non-Newtonian fluid bullets. You can sink into non-Newtonian fluids if you touch them gently, but they become like a solid if you hit them with strong force. Wait, wouldn't using them for defense make better use of their unique properties?
The Last Word of Tenshi Hinanawi from the world shrouded in scarlet mist (a Touhou LW original). She practically opens the floodgates of Heaven by discharging a beam of heavenly water temperament. In the past, it was thought floodgates existed up in the sky that, when opened, caused rain to fall. Water falling down from the sky is a mysterious phenomenon, so it's not surprising that people all over the world sought to explain it with the presence of another realm up high. Various cultures also have legends that foretell the coming of a great flood that will wash everything away when Heaven's floodgates fully open. It turns out that Abhassara, the Buddhist Realm of Streaming Radiance, acts as one such heavenly dam containing a planet's worth of water. However, it's hard to believe that the Water Web of Heaven and Earth can open these floodgates or that Tenshi has the authority to do so.
When snow, mist, and clouds cover everything, all you can see is white. This is caused by water particles diffusing and reflecting light.
Flowing water doesn't freeze. But once it stops, it will freeze instantly.
There are floodgates in Heaven. Rain leaks out of them.
