Ooyuki (a Touhou LW original) refers to heavy snowfall. This is an apt temperament for Yuyuko, who adjusted her own temperament to gather spring. Yuyuko is endowed with Water Phase, the element of winter and death, and Wood Phase, the element of spring and resurrection. She ignores the three celestial Phases because the calendar has been distorted. The flexible and patient Water Phase resists Metal Phase, because metal collects water, but it is weak to Earth Phase, because earth directs water. The strong and kind Wood Phase resists Water Phase, because water nourishes wood, but it is weak to Metal Phase, because metal carves wood. The combination of Wood Phase and Water Phase cancels out any resistance or weakness to Metal Phase.
The ability of Yuyuko Saigyouji from the world with a never-ending winter (a Touhou LW original). There is no observable difference between this Yuyuko's ability and the abilities of the Yuyukos from other worlds. The circumstances that led to her becoming a ghost tasked with managing the Netherworld and the nature of her current position also seem to be identical. Yuyuko Saigyouji is the culprit and mastermind behind the Spring Snow Incident―the incident where Gensokyo's winter wouldn't end. This incident seems to be a necessary event in history that occurs in almost every world. As long as the world is not exceptionally divergent, Yuyuko will always cause this incident. That is her fate. The Spring Snow Incident is supposed to be an unusual incident because there are meant to be two conditions that could conclude it. Either Gensokyo regains its spring and Yuyuko's ambition is thwarted, or Yuyuko gathers enough spring and fulfills her dream to make the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom and awaken the being who sleeps beneath it. However, the incident is still ongoing in this Yuyuko's world, so neither of these conditions could have been met. Gensokyo hasn't regained its spring, Yuyuko hasn't gathered enough spring, and the incident continues. How could this situation possibly be sustained for any length of time? The answer appears to lie in how this Yuyuko Saigyouji says she needs just a little more spring, but the Saigyou Ayakashi will not bloom no matter how much spring she gathers. This is like an object trying to approach the speed of light. Or the paradox with Achilles and the tortoise. So close, yet eternally distant. However, the question remains whether or not this situation could arise solely through the intent of the ghost, Yuyuko Saigyouji.
The Spread Shot of Yuyuko Saigyouji from the world with a never-ending winter (a Touhou LW original). Phantom butterflies invite her opponents. All who live are destined to die, but no one can know death while they yet live. Death is always a fantasy, a dream of the living.
The Focus Shot of Yuyuko Saigyouji from the world with a never-ending winter (a Touhou LW original). Cherry blossom spirits lead her opponents. Things decorated with flowers are considered to be beautiful because flowers only last for a short time. It is the nature of humans to long for things that are eternal while lauding the beauty of transient things. They are awfully selfish, arrogant, and weak creatures.
A Spell Card of Yuyuko Saigyouji from the world with a never-ending winter. She unleashes a phantasmal attack of dancing cherry blossoms and phantom butterflies. The lives of plants and bugs are inextricably linked, and bugs are as fleeting as flowers. The ultimate example of this is the butterfly. This is why so many cultures see their bewitching and alluring nature as spiritual. The life cycle of a butterfly coincides with the changing of the seasons throughout the year―it is orderly and delicate, and some may even call it magical.
A Spell Card of Yuyuko Saigyouji from the world with a never-ending winter. She attacks with cherry blossom petals that look as if they have been dyed ink-black. Apparently, small cherry blossom flowers with white petals can look as if they are tinted black when in full bloom. Perhaps the ancient poet had this scene in mind as he recited the poem that laments his friend's death. Is it even possible for the hearts of flowers to answer the plea of a poem?
The Last Word of Yuyuko Saigyouji from the world with a never-ending winter (a Touhou LW original). This attack is a manifestation of Yuyuko's earnest wish. Even if you could gather all the spring in Gensokyo, there just isn't quite enough to make the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom. No, perhaps there is just barely enough. Yuyuko said she needed just a little bit more spring before she battled with the humans. That is what happened in the correct timeline. The reason why she cannot bring the sleeper beneath the Saigyou Ayakashi back to life is hidden within her forgotten memories. Ghosts are beings of death and thus have the same temperament as winter, whereas cherry blossoms are flowers and have the same temperament as spring. There is an impassable barrier between them.
Yuyuko is gathering spring to make the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom.
Yuyuko is obsessed with making the Saigyou Ayakashi bloom. Who is the person who lies beneath the cherry blossom tree? And how did they seal the Saigyou Ayakashi?
The workings of the soul are linked to the blooming of flowers. This is obvious if you ever read the tale of Hanasaka Jiisan, where an old man makes withered cherry trees blossom by scattering the ashes of his beloved dog.
