Shimo Bashira (a Touhou LW original) refers to small pillars of ice that form when capillary action causes water particles below the ground to rise up in below-freezing conditions. This is the temperament of the puppeteer Alice, who's become a lowly engineer, albeit one capable of creating any item. Her temperament was reformed by exchanging magical principles for the laws of physics. This temperament is specialized to solely resist Moon Essence.
The ability of the secret Alice Margatroid (a Touhou LW original). Alice's original ability became this one when it was concealed by the system of the Capital. However, due to miscellaneous adjustments and the construction of alternate functions, Alice's doll-handling capabilities are unchanged. The prediction that this world's Alice would work in the Capital as an engineer was made by the Capital itself. However, that didn't come to pass. Instead, she was chased out of the Capital. Where she fled to differs from parallel world to parallel world, even between those in the same universe. In one such world, she became a member of the underground organization, Xanadu, who she works for as an expert engineer under the name the Puppeteer. In another world, she joined the rebellion, and makes specialized military outfits for humans. However, in some worlds, she is a member of both Xanadu and the rebellion. There is another important factor which determines Alice's fate in a given world, and that's what becomes of magic. In worlds where magic is totally lost, she is fated to become an Archive like all the other youkai. In worlds where magic gets weaker, Alice entrusts her knowledge of it to the humans, and slowly morphs into an Archive. In worlds where magic remains, Alice uses it to create specialized military outfits. Whatever the case, Alice is unable to achieve her goals alone, and must depend on the strength of her and her allies' bonds. Thanks to Alice, information about certain youkai in similar positions to herself has come to light. Yuyuko Saigyouji specialized in acquiring Archive data. Remilia Scarlet specialized in creating meta-materials. Yukari Yakumo specialized in creating blueprints based on Archives.
The Spread Shot of Alice Margatroid, the mechanical engineer (a Touhou LW original). She attacks with her gas-welding doll. Alice simply calls this gas welding, but, in fact, it's an engineering process of the far future that involves welding vaporized circuit particles, which are a type of meta-material. It's similar to printing circuit boards. This technique, which allows intricate circuit boards to be made freely and instantaneously, is made possible by Alice's doll magic.
The Focus Shot of Alice Margatroid, the mechanical engineer (a Touhou LW original). She attacks with her arc-welding doll. Alice simply calls this arc welding, but, in fact, it's an engineering process of the far future that involves building a structure by adjusting the parameters of variable-material filaments, which are a type of meta-material. It's similar to 3D printing. This technique, which allows for the production of items of any shape and with any number of properties, is made possible by Alice's doll magic.
A Spell Card of Alice Margatroid, the mechanical engineer. She launches an attack by manipulating her dolls. As a magician, Alice is proficient in all types of magic, but doll magic is by far her favorite kind to use. That holds true for this Alice, who comes from an alternate future. She can manipulate several human-shaped mechanical dolls at the same time. You might think anyone could do the same given they had the controller, but you'd most likely be wrong.
A Spell Card of Alice Margatroid, the mechanical engineer. She launches an attack by manipulating her dolls. This and Alice's other Spell Card must have existed in our world too. However, there are extraordinarily few historical documents available. You can read up on Spell Cards in the handful of grimoires and the like that still exist. But even in the grimoires, you'll find nothing written about this Alice's Spell Cards.
The Last Word of Alice Margatroid, the mechanical engineer (a Touhou LW original). She launches an attack using her magical mechanical workshop. What is magic when compared to science and technology? The boundary between them may be far more complex yet obvious than you imagine. Come to think of it, a famous science fiction writer once said something similar... For now, at least, it seems you'd do well to rid yourself of the notion that magic and science are opposed to one another and that they cannot coexist. That applies especially to the alternate future, in which it wouldn't be strange for the meanings of "magic" and "science," as well as all their connotations, to have changed drastically. This is no different from the way words from the past are used differently in the present. Even the pronunciation of some words may change over time. All of the above applies to humans, so it must surely apply to dolls too...
A puppet in the same attire as Alice. Its movements are slick. So much so that some believe it to be autonomous.
The doll with the seemingly calm attitude is Alice's Hourai doll. However, Alice is controlling them both.
All the future dolls do their best. (This one is Alice's Shanghai doll.) So long as this doll is with Alice, it's happy as can be.
