Natsu-gumo (a Touhou LW original) refers to clouds that form in the summer sky, such as cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds. This is an apt temperament for a rokurokubi like Sekibanki, who, even in the world of eternal summer, refuses to be easily swayed by others. Summer magical creatures are strong against harsh summer weather conditions, which is to say they're strong against the Sun (Sun Essence), the heat (Fire Phase), and the sky (Metal Phase). Perhaps the only thing that could cancel a baseball match is strong winds (Wood Phase). It turns out baseball-loving girls want to play it themselves, and while Sekibanki plays, Kagerou and Wakasagihime cheer her on at the top of their lungs from the stands. ...Huh? Are Sekibanki's cheeks turning red from embarrassment? Or is that the fault of the midsummer Sun?
The ability of Sekibanki from the world delirious with eternal summer (a Touhou LW original). This Sekibanki's ability is not all that different to the Sekibankis from other worlds. And in this world, too, she ranks among the weakest youkai. However, since discovering baseball, she's become determined to show everyone what she's made of. (Ah, to be young and full of life.) The Occult Bowl is a bullet battle ball sports bonanza. Technically speaking, "Occult Bowl" is both the name of the ball-sports competition and of the arena in which it will take place. The competition and its preliminary rounds are also known as the Yin-Yang League. So, in order to take part in the main competition as an Occult Bowler, you first have to accumulate victories in the preliminaries as a Yin-Yang Leaguer. When Sekibanki was first told all of this, she didn't quite understand but figured getting good at baseball would give her a shot at winning. However, things didn't go quite as smoothly as she imagined. She'd assumed that baseball matches would be played against other baseball players, but that wasn't the case. The Yin-Yang League was a chaotic mix of all kinds of ball sports, the likes of which made mixed martial arts competitions seem mundane and predictable. There were soccer shots being batted into the sky and volleyball spikes being overhead kicked back over the net. Sekibanki could do nothing but wonder what on earth the rules were! "You can do it, Sekibanki!" "Take me and Wakasagihime straight to the Occult Bowl!" With high-pitched wails of support coming from the stands, the red pitcher approached the mound. With nine Banki-heads, covering the entire field alone was more than possible. But that wouldn't be enough to come out on top in the Yin-Yang League! "I need teammates," thought Sekibanki as she took one step closer to the Occult Bowl. She knew if she could find the right players and develop strong synergy with them, the sandy path she walked would surely lead to victory.
The Spread Shot of Sekibanki from the world delirious with eternal summer (a Touhou LW original). She pitches with an incredible underarm throw, and the ball hurtles forward beneath the waves. Considering arm length and the distance from the mound to the home plate, it's possible for a pitch's angle to confuse whoever's in the batter's box. But Sekibanki can take it one step further by pitching so that the ball travels underwater (or underground when she's not playing on the beach)!
The Focus Shot of Sekibanki from the world delirious with eternal summer (a Touhou LW original). She unleashes what's clearly not an ordinary magical baseball pitch. The home of human baseball supposedly lies far east of Japan, across the sea, but even there, Great Magic Ball pitching techniques are quite effective. However, it seems ordinary magical pitches aren't enough to phase the humans playing there. Humans really are something!
A Spell Card of Sekibanki from the world delirious with eternal summer (a Touhou LW original). She forms a baseball team by herself in this attack. Nine adorable Banki-heads (name TBC) assemble on the beach to play a baseball match. Whether there are more than nine in total is unclear, but there may be many more out there hiding somewhere. On the other hand, perhaps there are only a few, with Sekibanki simply making it appear as if there are nine when using this Spell Card. After all, you do occasionally come across Spell Cards with duplicating effects. What's really unnerving about this attack, though, is the fact that nine players aren't enough to form a baseball team... You still need substitutes and a coach!
A Spell Card of Sekibanki from the world delirious with eternal summer (a Touhou LW original). She unleashes her special Great Magic Ball pitching technique in this attack. It's thought that this is Great Magic Ball No.6, which Sekibanki also seems to confirm. Only magical pitches that would likely be effective in baseball's homeland are labeled as Great Magic Balls, but this pitch utilizes Sekibanki's magic, so it may well be against the rules. Then again, just like the true nature of youkai, the mechanisms underlying magical pitches are unknown. So for now, she's allowed to use it.
The Last Word of Sekibanki from the world delirious with eternal summer (a Touhou LW original). She unveils her secret pitching technique in this attack. Sekibanki and her ancestors may be a type of youkai known as hitouban. Hitouban supposedly come from Southeast Asia, although their specific points of origin tend to vary. Their heads are said to detach from their bodies and fly around for prolonged periods before returning, a characteristic they share with rokurokubi. However, one theory suggests this is simply a metaphor for dreaming. For Sekibanki, perhaps the tropical Gensokyo stirs in her a feeling of having returned to her homeland. That's right. This Gensokyo may be the key to unlocking her full potential...Or maybe not! Today, she's once again pitching while Kagerou and Wakasagihime cheer her on.
A shutout occurs when a pitcher pitches a complete game without letting the opposing team score a run. Even just pitching a complete game is quite the feat.
A no-hit, no-run game is one that ends without a single hit of the ball or run scored.
A perfect game doesn't allow any hits, walks, or fielding errors!
