Momiji Inubashiri protects the territory of the tengu. Tonight, she is sitting alone at the counter of "Old Desire," quietly sipping from her glass and seems to be unusually lost in thought...
Shogi is a two-player strategy board game. The game is played with a nine by nine board with 20 pieces per player. The players take turns to decide whether to move, drop, take, or promote a piece and whoever takes the opponent's king wins the game. Aside from the regular rules of shogi, there are different games that utilize the same pieces and also variations of the rules unique to specific regions. There seems to be a shogi board hidden away next to the counter...
Shogi also exists in Gensokyo. However, the rules explained above are used amongst humans. Youkai, particularly the white wolf tengu and kappa, prefer to play with different rules. The tengu thought that the games with human rules were too short, so they added their own pieces and rules. It is known as Tengu Dai Shogi between youkai. Momiji has been particularly active in expanding the rules, which shows how passionate she is about the game.
Seiga wonders how long it's been since she started observing Momiji. Momiji finally realizes that the glass in her hand is empty and orders another limited time drink. As soon as Seiga received the order, she began to shake her cocktail shaker. She pours the drink into a glass and slides it across the counter. It was an elegant and stylish performance, but Momiji didn't seem to notice...
Seiga noticed that Momiji was muttering something quietly. She said, "While closing in on the enemy with the Furibisha strategy, I should use Rabies Bite to create an opening―no, it will be tough if they push back with bullets... Then maybe I should use the Anaguma castle to strengthen my defense... I might as well use Expellee's Canaan..." Seiga did not understand what she was saying; however, judging by the look on Momiji's face, it must be very important for her.
