Wicked Dream

Story
"What's the Fantasy World...?" Maribel Hearn had visited many dream worlds, peered into many illusionary worlds using Izanagi Objects, and been to the Otherworlds that lie beyond barriers. In short, she believed she'd seen it all... But she'd seen nothing like this before. There's no way she could float along so carefree if this was actually space. Only by erasing the lines between reality and fantasy could this be possible. Without a ground to walk on, she felt a little uneasy.

"I gotta watch out for all this debris!" Maribel had yet to see any monsters, but she suspected there were hordes of them lurking somewhere close... She had to be on guard, but she also had to be careful of all of the space debris. On Earth, the odds of being struck by a meteorite are astronomically low, but with the amount of space debris orbiting Earth, Maribel had heard that avoiding it all was becoming increasingly difficult. She'd also heard that being struck by just one of the countless microscopic chunks of super-sonic debris up there was fatal. Now isn't that a frightening thought?

"Hmmm... Which kind is this?" Maribel had noticed there were two kinds of debris. First, there were the antique record players. Then, there were the strange chunks of rock with message cards attached to them. The latter weren't technically debris, they were more akin to asteroids, but since she didn't know where they originated, she figured it didn't matter what she called them. And on closer inspection, the "message cards" actually seemed more like ofuda...

"This looks like jindai moji... But why would there be ancient Japanese symbols written on here?" The symbols also somewhat resembled runes, but they could also be from a completely different ancient language. At times like this, Maribel wished she'd studied more linguistics. Then again, if the symbols had been mathematical, she'd wish she'd studied more math. Either way, regret would get her nowhere now. She knew that copying down as many of the symbols as accurately as possible was her best bet... but in a cruel twist of fate, she had nothing to write with!

"Maybe these are some kind of ruins." Maribel had managed to decipher a small section of the text. It said something about devils, but she couldn't make heads or tails of it. Perhaps there wasn't anything particularly useful written at all. After all, of all the world's writings, only a small fraction of it has any objective value. It's easy to forget, but just because a piece of text is old and mysterious doesn't mean it automatically has great value. "Wait, I recognize the pattern on this piece of debris. Is it... a petroglyph? And hold up. Is that a monkey statue?!"
