The Spread Shot of Hatate Himekaidou from the world of fierce newspaper rivalry (a Touhou LW original). She uses keywords to narrow her photo search. Hatate Himekaidou owns what appears to be a flip phone, but it's actually a kappa-made camera. Nowadays, it's only natural for mobile phones to come equipped with cameras, but that wasn't always the case. In the not-so-distant past, they transitioned from a mere means of communication to high-performance, multifunctional devices, with digital cameras being just one of their many features. For Hatate to think of her flip phone primarily as a camera must have put her ahead of the curve.
The Focus Shot of Hatate Himekaidou from the world of fierce newspaper rivalry (a Touhou LW original). She retrieves a photo from her storehouse of imaginary photos. Does Gensokyo have internet? At the very least, Hatate is able to use her camera (aka her flip phone) to search for photos, letting her obtain images from afar without moving an inch. Since the barrier surrounding Gensokyo is said to allow things like water and air to pass through, it's possible electromagnetic waves can slip in as well. If that's the case, then some of the photos Hatate finds could be from the outside world. However, some form of network is known to exist in Gensokyo. It's possible that this network behaves like the internet and is accessed in similar ways. In fact, it's rumored it extends to the Animal Realm. Nothing has been confirmed yet. But if these hypotheses are even partially accurate, they might explain how Sumireko and those at Moriya Shrine came to learn about Gensokyo.
A Spell Card of Hatate Himekaidou from the world of fierce newspaper rivalry. With her back against the wall, she resorts to using thoughtography. What if the exact photo you wanted already existed somewhere in the world? What if the thing you wanted to create had already been made by someone else? Wouldn't retaking an existing photo just be a waste of time and effort? When it comes to the internet, if two images are identical, it's better to delete one. If every inch of scenery in the world was already captured in photos, then we wouldn't need cameras anymore.
A Spell Card of Hatate Himekaidou from the world of fierce newspaper rivalry (a Touhou LW original). She aims to be the strongest in this attack. Perhaps thanks to Aya, Hatate realized it was fun to go out and gather stories herself. If her only goal was to write an article, chances were that someone out there had already written something similar to what she had in mind. But if she focused on enjoying the act of writing itself, she was guaranteed to have fun. Still, she felt it was more rewarding to write an article people would actually read, as opposed to publishing eye-catching photos with flashy headlines!
The Last Word of Hatate Himekaidou from the world of fierce newspaper rivalry (a Touhou LW original). She feels like she sensed an all-new way to report on stories. Rivalries don't have to be hostile, and incompatibility doesn't have to mean discomfort. Modern people might have trouble understanding that, with their affinity for pleasure and predictability. Boredom is unavoidable on a path that's too linear. If you want excitement, then conflict is necessary. For Hatate, the contrast between herself and Aya provided the excitement she craved―their differing beliefs, methods, and reasons for loving journalism. They're both crow tengu, youkai through and through. At its core, their rivalry was no different from a battle of bullets. Youkai are nothing without battles, and reporters are nothing without rivalry.
Hatate ventured out into the world to find scoops. But she wasn't as experienced as Aya.
Aya's reporting style was different from Hatate's. That's why it bugged her so much.
