Temperament: Namida Ame
Namida Ame (a Touhou LW original) refers to rain that evokes feelings of sadness or a light rain reminiscent of falling tears. This is an apt temperament for Kogasa, a tsukumogami who got caught up in the disturbance because she wanted to play. Kogasa is endowed with Water Phase, the temperament of rain, and Sun Essence, the temperament of rain protection.
The flexible and patient Water Phase resists Metal Phase, because metal collects water, but it is weak to Earth Phase, because earth directs water.
The alluring and arrogant Sun Essence resists the diverse and uncooperative Star Essence, but it is weak to the cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence.

The 12th Prolonged Incident
This incident was caused by a group of youkai trying to free a great magician sealed away in Makai, and it was resolved by the humans who battled them aboard their flying treasure ship. However, that's not what happened in this world. Something else must have occurred to prolong the incident. As in other worlds, this Kogasa wasn't directly involved with the incident, so it's doubtful she played any part in prolonging it.
Kogasa, the karakasa-obake, got blown into the air by the wind created by the treasure ship flying through Gensokyo. As she floated around looking for something fun to do, she happened across the humans. She wasn't friends with the youkai on the ship at this time because the Myouren Temple didn't exist yet. She may be a karakasa-obake, but she's not a karakasa-kozou, meaning she had no ties to priests or temples.
Tsukumogami are a unique type of youkai. There are many, like Kogasa, who don't need to attack humans and can sustain themselves by other means. In fact, they should be able to exist for a fairly long time without having to do anything as long as they don't get destroyed. This is because they were originally tools that transformed into youkai after being discarded without a proper send-off. Tsukumogami are imbued with magic from their former owner, and this magic is a lingering memory that fuels their grudge against them. As long as tsukumogami live, they will always retain this memory. They are essentially beings of information.
The forgotten umbrella cannot forget. Even knowing that her former owner no longer exists in this world, she will always remember that fateful rainy day when they took her out for a stroll...
