Character Information

Temperament: Microburst
Microburst (a Touhou LW original) refers to a localized downburst. This temperament is fitting for Minamitsu, the ship phantom who adores Byakuren above all else. She is endowed with the temperament of sailors (Water Phase), helmsmen (Sun Essence), and storms (Wood Phase). The flexible and patient Water Phase resists Metal Phase, because metal collects water, but it is weak to Earth Phase, because earth directs water. The alluring and arrogant Sun Essence resists the diverse and uncooperative Star Essence, but it is weak to the cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence. The strong and kind Wood Phase resists Water Phase, because water nourishes wood, but it is weak to Metal Phase, because metal carves wood. The combination of Water Phase and Wood Phase cancels out any resistance or weakness to Metal Phase.
Ability/Backstory: Capable of causing shipwrecks (Prolonged)
The Ability of Minamitsu Murasa from the world with a high-flying treasure ship (a Touhou LW original). This ability doesn't seem that different from the Minamitsu of our world's ability. The most prominent symbol of the 12th Prolonged Incident is the Palanquin Ship, the massive treasure ship drifting across the skies of Gensokyo, bound for Makai. It may well be the largest magic item ever created, at least according to the records currently available. Even in its broken state, it can still fly. The sheer volume of magical power it holds is immeasurable. And the one who possessed such immense magical power, or rather, dharmic power, was none other than Byakuren Hijiri's younger brother―Myouren Hijiri. Shaken by her brother's death, Byakuren turned to magic out of fear. That choice led to her being sealed off in Makai. Considering the overwhelming power her brother wielded, it could only really be described as magic, but the humans selfishly interpreted it as a blessing. Myouren performed countless miracles, and even though Byakuren learned magic to prolong her life, her teachings were nothing but peaceful. Yet one was revered, while the other was feared. Nobody knows why fate drew that line between them. By the time Byakuren was active as a youkai monk, Myouren had already passed away. Her disciples, including Murasa, never had the chance to meet him. Even so, they probably felt connected to him because of Byakuren's life story and her teachings. The Flying Storehouse that served as the foundation of the Palanquin Ship was the very symbol of Myouren's miracles, and it was here that his glory shone the strongest. The other foundation of the Palanquin Ship was none other than the vessel Murasa herself had commanded when she was alive. Perhaps, among all of Byakuren's disciples, it was Murasa who felt most deeply connected to the brother she had never met. The enchanted artifact Phantom Anchor is one of the treasures that was not lost. Before she was sealed away, Byakuren possessed many such treasures that she most likely used to aid her teachings. According to true data, the Phantom Anchor had either been lost or perhaps never existed at all. It was a particularly unique treasure among the ones that Byakuren possessed because it was a fragment of the Palanquin Ship itself. It was not an artifact Byakuren created from nothing, but rather it was a part of the legacy her brother Myouren left behind―The Flying Storehouse. The Phantom Anchor is an exceptionally heavy magic item. Neither humans nor ordinary youkai could ever hope to wield it. Only three people could manage to handle it: Murasa with her affinity for the Palanquin Ship, Myouren, the original owner, and Byakuren, for whom such weight was insignificant. Perhaps no disciple felt the love between Byakuren and her brother Myouren as strongly as Murasa did. It's no wonder she tried so desperately to stop Reimu and her allies. But without gathering the fragments of the Flying Storehouse, the Palanquin Ship would never reach Makai. In the end, her devotion only worked against her. A cruel twist of fate for a ship phantom cursed by resentment.

Attacks

Storm Helm

The Spread Shot of Minamitsu Murasa from the world with a high-flying treasure ship (a Touhou LW original). She becomes one with her ship to attack. To Murasa, the Palanquin Ship is a symbol of salvation because when Byakuren rescued her long ago, she entrusted Murasa with the ship. But what truly saved her was not the gift itself. It was the kindness in Byakuren's heart that set Murasa free from the chains that bound her soul... probably.

Death Anchor

The Focus Shot of Minamitsu Murasa from the world with a high-flying treasure ship (a Touhou LW original). She becomes one with her ship to attack. Before Byakuren saved her, Murasa was what is known as a willbound spirit. Just as some spirits are bound to a particular place, a willbound spirit is bound to powerful emotions. To be shackled by emotions must be an agony beyond imagination. Salvation can only be found because anger and sorrow fade with time.

Capsize: Sinking Anchor

A Spell Card of Minamitsu Murasa from the world with a high-flying treasure ship. She attacks with a giant anchor. What must have gone through Byakuren's mind when she saw Murasa chained by emotion? Youkai are, in essence, spiritual beings sustained by their emotions. Willbound spirits can also be said to be sustained by strong emotions, but unlike other youkai, they are condemed to an endless hell of suffering. Perhaps Byakuren felt that Murasa's suffering mirrored her own past, when she was trapped by the fear born from her brother's death.

Phantom: Dipper Creeping Close

A Spell Card of Minamitsu Murasa from the world with a high-flying treasure ship. She attacks with the ladle she always keeps close at hand. And so, Murasa set forth on her journey as Byakuren's disciple, walking beside her in the pursuit of the Buddha's teachings. Like Ichirin Kumoi, she too was once a human girl. Perhaps many other youkai girls who were once human had also gathered around Byakuren. After all, Byakuren herself had originally been human, so it was only natural that those with human origins would be drawn to her.

Palanquin Phantom Anchor

The Last Word of Minamitsu Murasa from the world with a high-flying treasure ship (a Touhou LW original). She attacks with an enchanted artifact and her undying determination. The Palanquin Ship is a special vessel, blessed with Myouren's Buddhist powers... or rather, his magic. The enchanted artifact, Phantom Anchor, is like an extension of the ship's soul. The Palanquin Ship belongs to Murasa, and it is said to look identical to the ship she sailed in life. Ship and ship phantom―they are inseparable. In other words, nothing can stop her. Her destination is Hokkai, a hidden corner of Makai where Byakuren has been sealed away. Together with her allies, she is determined to achieve their thousand-year vow―to see Byakuren again and set her free. She will not let defiant humans stand in their way.
