I'm Mononobe no Futo, protector of the Mibube and hallowed maiden of Ikaruga. Traveling 'twixt worlds is a simple task for one such as I, for I know all about the paths that dragons roam.
Introduction
At long last, the day hath come. Surely, this time... my rebirth shall be celebrated! I know thee not, little girl, but thank you. I am Mononobe no Futo. I protect Lady Taishi as a warrior, but I am also the incumbent master of the all-powerful Mononobe secret arts. Being well-versed in ryuumyaku―the dragon paths―I can travel 'twixt worlds at will. (Truth be told, 'twas an accident, but I needn't tell her that.) I've been sleeping for nigh on fourteen centuries, so I am somewhat befuddled... A thought! Wouldst thou lend me thy aid?
Purple Heart
Some scholars call dragon paths "spirit paths." Told you I was well-informed.
Blue Heart
Ryuumyaku are the paths dragons roam, and ryuuketsu are the gates to them. Know that mountains are, in fact, landforms carved by dragons moving beneath the soil.
Green Heart
Vulgar spirits flock to Lady Taishi. Methinks they followed the dragon paths to reach her. 'Tis the only logical explanation.
Orange Heart
Worthy rulers are as lodestones unto the people. From famished peasants to able souls, all gather at their feet―each hoping that their voice might be heard.
Pink Heart
The dragon paths bridge worlds, allowing dragons to pass betwixt them. Didst thou know this? Shouldst thou encounter an envoy of the Dragon Palace, mayhap they could tell you more, but― ...Huh? There's an envoy here?! Truly?!
Summer
Summer is of the Fire Phase―its hue is red, and its bearing lieth southward, for that is the warmest direction. Windows are set to face the south―and look, even the sunflowers turn that way.

How do I know I have slumbered for fourteen centuries? And how am I familiar with the tongue of this present age? Hmm, I know not. Mayhap 'tis by virtue of Lady Taishi's power.
Enhancement
Behold! This is the might of Taoist and Mononobe secret arts combined!
Return
Didst thou also espy a shikaisen in that last battle of bullets? Mayhap mine eyes deceived me...
Home 1
Hast thou seen Tojiko? She is wroth, though I know not why. She muttered about a jar and some failure that left her as a ghost. Did I err in some unknown way?
Home 2
Miss Seiga hath ever been a strange one. 'Tis as though she holdeth wisdom beyond her time. Thinkest thou that hermit came from the future, perchance?
Home 3
Lady Taishi is an inspiration to all. To serve her is an honor―one for which I would lay down my life to uphold. In days of yore, many more shared this resolve.
Reaction 1
Hm? Art thou weary? Dost thou wish to rest thy head upon my lap?
Reaction 2
This reminds me of the time I awoke to find myself resting upon Lady Taishi's lap.
Reaction 3
Thou sleepest so soundly. *pats head* *pats head some more*
Task
Tasks? Dost thou aspire to be a court official? A most praiseworthy pursuit!
Task Complete
Hast thou truly completed thy task?! Thou art a prodigy. Come hither―thou hast earned some pats upon the head!
Mail
Mail? From whence was it sent?

The errand girls have returned. Let's go hear their report!

Character Information
Temperament: Dan-U
Dan-U (a Touhou LW original) refers to rain that feels like a bombardment of bullets. This is an apt temperament for Mononobe no Futo, who wields a combination of ancient Mononobe secret arts and new Taoist techniques.
Since she was sealed underground during her long sleep, she lacks the three Essences of Sun, Moon, and Star. Futo is endowed with Fire Phase as she engineered the conflagration of temples, and Water Phase because she is quick to adapt, like when she turned against her own clan.
The formless and passionate Fire Phase resists Wood Phase, because wood feeds fire, but it is weak to Water Phase, because water dampens fire.
The flexible and patient Water Phase resists Metal Phase, because metal collects water, but it is weak to Earth Phase, because earth directs water.
Ability/Backstory: Capable of manipulating feng shui
The ability of Mononobe no Futo from a world overflowing with divine spirits (a Touhou LW original). It's basically the same as our Futo's ability.
Futo was probably the most dismayed out of anyone with the prolonging of the 13th incident. She had betrayed her own clan and family and was ready to throw everything else away, all for the sake of Miko's resurrection. Everything should have been prepared to perfection, so why didn't it work?
Futo was under no illusions. She knew she wasn't especially wise or intelligent. While she may have received tutelage alongside Miko from the Mibube, the greatest teachers in the land, the Mononobe clan was full of many more talented individuals who had also mastered the Mononobe secret arts. That's not even mentioning the members of the other powerful clans like the Soga, who could be considered even smarter than the Mononobe with their knowledge of the latest Chinese technological innovations. Regardless, Futo's intelligence, or lack thereof, shouldn't have had any influence on the resurrection plan's success.
The Mononobe secret arts and the Taoist techniques of Chinese sages work so well together because they both originated from the same thing: animism. The fundamental ideas of animism are that everything has a soul and that the universe is composed of temperament. These techniques seem like mystical charms or magic to the layman, but for the master, they are simple conversations with the universe. They ask for boons, and the earth, sky, mountains, rivers, lakes, and forests answer. Conversing with the universe in this manner is known as feng shui. Once you get the universe to agree to something, it will always uphold its end of the bargain. It may take some time, but even the most grandiose boon will eventually be granted. Everything for Miko's resurrection had already been arranged, so Futo couldn't have possibly messed it up.
The most likely explanation is that Buddhists delayed Miko's resurrection as payback for her exploiting Buddhist teachings to hide her true motives.
Attacks
Prayer for Victory
The Spread Shot of Mononobe no Futo from a world overflowing with divine spirits (a Touhou LW original). She prepares for war in this attack. According to Age of the Gods myths, both Futo's and Miko's ancestors possessed the divine arrow, Ame no Habaya. It is a type of regalia, signifying that its owner is a child of the Sun. Questioning them about it probably won't yield answers since they discarded it long ago, before they came to Gensokyo.

Saint Girl: Oomonoimi's Banquet
A Spell Card of Mononobe no Futo from a world overflowing with divine spirits. She offers food to the gods in this attack. The Mononobe clan's progenitor is the god Umashimaji, the son of Nigihayahi and Mikashikiyahime. Umashimaji is the god of fortune-telling, and his name could be interpreted to mean "beautiful magic" or "delicious food." Mikashikiyahime's name is written with the Japanese characters for "three," "cook," "house," and "princess." The Mononobe clan thanked these gods by presenting them with crops, predominantly grains like rice, grown thanks to the power of the Sun.

Sun Goddess's Sacrifice
The Last Word of Mononobe no Futo from a world overflowing with divine spirits (a Touhou LW original). The Sun Goddess's Sacrifice was originally a type of attack called overdrive. But Futo created this Spell Card by adjusting that attack to be used as her Last Word.
There are two Sun gods in the Shinto pantheon. Amaterasu, Toyosatomimi no Miko's divine ancestor, and Nigihayahi, the father of Umashimaji (the progenitor of the Mononobe clan), Futsumitama, and Ame no Kaguyama. Both these deities have grand shrines dedicated to them: Ise and Isonokami, respectively. Backed by different powerful clans, the shrines have a long and complex history full of political intrigue... but Futo no longer cares about any of that. After secretly plotting to destroy both the Mononobe and Soga clans and spreading the teachings of Buddhism among the people, she is now solely devoted to Lady Taishi. To her, Isonokami Shrine is but a sorry remnant of a long-dead clan.
