Murashigure (a Touhou LW original) refers to showers that stop and start over the course of the day. This is the temperament of the Kosuzu Motoori, who wanders the gray area between human and youkai. Kosuzu is strong against Water Phase and Moon Essence, the essential elements of youkai, but is weak to Sun Essence, since sunlight can end the Night Parade.
The ability of Kosuzu Motoori from the world with an ultra-forbidden scroll (a Touhou LW original). This ability doesn't seem any different from the Kosuzu of our world's ability. The 16.3rd Prolonged Incident. Kosuzu left Suzunaan, taking several demon books, including the Privately Published Night Parade Scroll's final chapter addendum, and nobody knows where she went. Before she left, Akyuu, her best friend, told her that she must choose the truth that she thinks is best... so it seems likely that she left in search of that truth. But which truth did she choose in the end? The records do not provide a clear answer, and neither can Kosuzu because she forgot everything once things returned to normal. When Akyuu and Reimu asked Aya about what happened to Kosuzu, Aya speculated that she may have been spirited away. In other words, kidnapped and sent to the outside world. If this is true, Kosuzu's first stop after leaving Suzunaan was probably to meet with Yukari Yakumo. Then, the incident would proceed and eventually be resolved according to Yukari's plan. However, for some reason, it did not get resolved in this world. It became prolonged. Kosuzu probably brought the demon books with her because Yukari had convinced her that everyone was trying to take them from her. Assuming Yukari brought Kosuzu to the outside world and showed her what it was like, this experience probably led Kosuzu to make the following conclusions about Gensokyo. - The ordinary humans of the village are being kept in the dark and exploited. - Powerful humans, like Reimu and Marisa, are plotting to rule over Gensokyo just like the youkai. - If Kosuzu uses the power of her Night Parade Scroll, she can correct the imbalance of power in Gensokyo. Reimu and the others assumed that Kosuzu was possessed by the power of the evil black dragon and that the tsukumogami of the Night Parade Scroll were trying to eat her. However, Kosuzu might have thought that the reason why the humans of the village couldn't live freely like those in the outside world was because the powerful humans, like Reimu, weren't fulfilling their duties. So, perhaps Kosuzu was acting under her own will and genuinely wanted to teach Reimu and the others a lesson to correct the power imbalance in Gensokyo. Assuming Kosuzu was trying to do the right thing as a youkai-exterminator, then Yukari should have been able to follow her plan and transform her into a being, similar to Reimu, that straddles the boundary between human and youkai. Yukari starts incidents, but she also helps resolve them, like with the Eternal Night Incident. Everything would sort itself out as long as Reimu fought Kosuzu, and Reimu would have every reason to fight because she would still be thinking about what happened with the fortune teller. So, where did Yukari's plan go wrong...?
The Spread Shot of Kosuzu Motoori from the world with an ultra-forbidden scroll (a Touhou LW original). She commands one of the hundred haunted housewares in this attack. Demon books are a kind of magic item and basically include all books that exist outside the scope of human comprehension. For example, books, like grimoires, that facilitate magic, books written in a youkai language, books that are somehow imbued with magical power, books that act as a prison for youkai, and books that are themselves youkai.
The Focus Shot of Kosuzu Motoori from the world with an ultra-forbidden scroll (a Touhou LW original). She commands one of the hundred haunted housewares in this attack. Kosuzu's ability to read any book, including demon books, can be quite handy depending on how it is used. If she lived in the outside world, she could have used it to read every language, including programming languages, and perhaps even advanced mathematical formulas, becoming a child prodigy. Of course, this would never happen, since she only has her ability because she lives in Gensokyo. How many more children in the Human Village have abilities?
A Spell Card of Kosuzu Motoori from the world with an ultra-forbidden scroll (a Touhou LW original). She commands two of the hundred haunted housewares in this attack. Old tools become tsukumogami, a type of youkai, when they are abandoned for an exceptionally long time without being broken. This is because all tools function thanks to the magic of their user, and the more they are used, the more magical power builds up inside them. If you wish to cast a tool aside and stop using it, you must break it and perform a proper memorial service. Otherwise, it will return as a tsukumogami bearing a grudge that it will never forget. Due to the magical energy that flows through them, they cannot help but obsess over their former owner.
A Spell Card of Kosuzu Motoori from the world with an ultra-forbidden scroll (a Touhou LW original). She commands three of the hundred haunted housewares in this attack. It is often assumed that the Night Parade is a procession of oni, but the most gifted and treasured artworks of the parade depict it as a procession of tsukumogami. Perhaps the main reason for this is that tools imbued with oni magic are known to be especially potent magic items.
The Last Word of Kosuzu Motoori from the world with an ultra-forbidden scroll (a Touhou LW original). She attacks with her Night Parade Scroll's tsukumogami. When Kosuzu got spirited away, she might have caught a glimpse of the outside world and seen the humans living there. If she did, that would definitely cause her to have some concerns about the current state of Gensokyo. And with the Night Parade Scroll and her ability to read demon books, she has the power to act on them. It's possible that Kosuzu felt a sense of kinship with the old youkai trapped within the scroll. They had been ignored for such a long time, and while so many gifted and talented people surround Kosuzu, they always leave her out of the loop. Perhaps the youkai saw that they had this in common, too.
A tsukumogami of a gohei that goes around spreading false fortunes. A certain shrine maiden likes her gohei so much that she gave it a nickname. She calls it her purification rod.
A stubborn tsukumogami of a shoe that steals and eats melons. According to a Chinese proverb, you shouldn't adjust your shoes while walking through a melon patch because it makes you look suspicious.
A tsukumogami of kagura bells―bells used in Shinto rituals to entice the gods to use their power. Speaking of bells, it's rumored that the bells in Kosuzu's hair ring whenever a demon book is nearby.
