Character Information

Temperament: Fu no Hokkyoku Shindou
Fu no Hokkyoku Shindou (a Touhou LW original) refers to the negative Arctic Oscillation Index. It indicates a state in which the pressure difference between the Arctic and the mid-latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere is small. This is an apt temperament for Satono, who became overly fixated on looking for a successor. She is endowed with intense mental energy (Fire Phase), overconfidence (Star Essence), and the temperament of a ruler behind the scenes (Earth Phase). The formless and passionate Fire Phase resists Wood Phase, because wood feeds fire, but it is weak to Water Phase, because water dampens fire. The diverse and uncooperative Star Essence resists the cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence, but it is weak to the alluring and arrogant Sun Essence. The encompassing and regenerative Earth Phase resists Fire Phase, because fire produces earth, but it is weak to Wood Phase, because wood parts earth. The combination of Fire Phase and Earth Phase cancels out any resistance or weakness to Wood Phase.
Ability/Backstory: Capable of drawing out people's mental energy by dancing behind them (Prolonged)
The ability of Satono Nishida from the world where the four seasons are in total disarray (a Touhou LW original). There is no noticeable difference between her ability and the abilities of Satonos from other worlds. The 16th Prolonged Incident What set it all in motion was the incident caused by Okina Matara, commonly known as the Four Seasons Incident. An anarchic incident in which a sage who effectively governs Gensokyo chose to disrupt its order with her own hands. Perhaps what it ultimately points to is the complexity of what it means to protect and nurture—not indulgence, but a secret god's harsh, uncompromising form of motherhood. Naturally, Okina Matara is related to the incident's prolonged state... but before reaching that conclusion, the two servants must be taken into account. To complicate matters further, the true data of the Four Seasons Incident states that Okina Matara never explained the situation to her two servants. Instead, she acted as though she were simply looking for successors to replace her two servants, who served as an extension of herself. Beneath that facade, however, was her intent to assert her existence as a secret god, and to bring about her own form of salvation by admonishing Gensokyo. ...But even that is only speculation. A secret god is defined by secrecy. What she truly intended is beyond anyone's understanding. Compared to Mai Teireida, Satono Nishida tends to be more careful in how she acts, and at the same time, she's pretty overconfident. Basically, she does things at her own pace and rarely lets others dictate her choices. But now that she has gained far more power than before, Satono may begin to show the kind of boldness and uninhibited behavior that were originally characteristic of Mai. At first glance, a personality change like that might not seem problematic, and normally, most people probably wouldn't think much of it. However, a change in personality also implies a change in temperament. And the Four Seasons Incident is, by definition, an interference with the temperaments of the seasons. In other words, Satono may well be the one prolonging the incident, but she is also a victim of it, which makes it difficult to call her the true mastermind behind everything... though that may already be obvious. It's true that EX Beings often behave like the culprit, or come dangerously close to that role, yet none of them can be declared the culprit with absolute certainty. In quantum terms, they are best described as an "indeterminate culprit." In observable worlds, an EX Being may or may not turn out to be the culprit. You can only know which once it is observed. Across the infinite parallel worlds that cannot be directly observed, this uncertainty exists as a probability, while across the singular worlds that have already been observed, it is a measurable percentage. In simpler terms, an indeterminate culprit is nothing but a suspect. The true dilemma is deciding when that suspicion justifies action... arresting them, or eliminating them altogether. It is an exceptionally delicate boundary to judge. Satono Nishida chooses to remain silent. Not to protect herself, but because she feels that no matter what she says, her true feelings never seem to come through. Perhaps the scent of myoga ginger has rendered even her spoken words indeterminate. At this point, hearing the perspectives of Mai Teireida and Okina Matara would be most illuminating.

Attacks

Myoga Ginger Frenzied Dance

The Spread Shot of Satono Nishida from the world where the four seasons are in total disarray (a Touhou LW original). The secret god's servant has the fragrance of myoga ginger. Her master's orders were to bring anyone who passed the trial to the Land of the Back Door. This mission was entrusted to Satono and Mai, and the unnatural shift in Gensokyo's seasons also served as camouflage. This Satono sensed that Okina must be looking for their successors. There was no proof, but her intuition was correct.

Mental Stimulation

The Focus Shot of Satono Nishida from the world where the four seasons are in total disarray (a Touhou LW original). She stimulates the mind with this attack. Satono can draw out mental energy, while Mai draws out vitality. Their powers are activated when they dance behind their target and are part of Okina's own ability. In that sense, Satono and Mai could be seen as mere extensions of Okina, without free will. But is that really so?

Mad Dance: Frenzied Tengu-Frightening - Mind

A Spell Card of Satono Nishida from the world where the four seasons are in total disarray (a Touhou LW original). She unleashes an attack she practiced with the intention of fighting in combination with Mai. Both Satono and Mai were once ordinary humans, but long ago, Okina transformed them into her two servants. That implies there must have been other servants before them. Much like in this incident, those predecessors were probably also tasked with searching for successors, found them, and were then relieved of their duties. What became of those former servants? And what fate awaits Satono and Mai once they retire?

Bullet Dance: Twin Typhoons - Mind

A Spell Card of Satono Nishida from the world where the four seasons are in total disarray (a Touhou LW original). She unleashes an attack she practiced with the intention of fighting in combination with Mai. The two servants certainly could be seen as puppets, unable to think beyond Okina's orders. But Yukari Yakumo doesn't treat her shikigami that way, and Seiga Kaku doesn't handle her jiang shi like that either. Even the vampire's maid, who could've become a puppet if her fate had been rewritten differently, was never treated as one. There is a reason for that. Letting them think for themselves is simpler, more convenient, and gives them more room to grow. And coming from Okina Matara, who watches over Gensokyo from the Land of the Back Door, that kind of shortcut feels exactly like something she would do.

Door to the Hidden Season

The Last Word of Satono Nishida from the world where the four seasons are in total disarray (a Touhou LW original). She predicts who will pass the trial. The two servants can't possibly be the masterminds because they follow Okina Matara's orders. Even if Okina was the mastermind, they would still only be her underlings, her tools. But what if they were created as tools that think for themselves? In that case, there's room for a fatal flaw to arise. Even the Lunar Sage failed to notice when a vengeful spirit possessed one of her friends. Knowledge, no matter how vast, always has its limits. And so the question is: if the scent of myoga ginger causes forgetfulness, what, then, could Satono Nishida truly be guilty of?
