Temperament: Oil Shale
Oil Shale (a Touhou LW original) refers to rocks rich in organic chemical compounds. Yuuma is endowed with the temperament of black water, which is a liquid (Water Phase), a subterranean metamorphic compound (Metal Phase), and a mineral (Earth Phase).
The flexible and patient Water Phase resists Metal Phase, because metal collects water, but it is weak to Earth Phase, because earth directs water.
The cold and silent Metal Phase resists Earth Phase, because earth bears metal, but it is weak to Fire Phase, because fire refines metal.
The encompassing and regenerative Earth Phase resists Fire Phase, because fire produces earth, but it is weak to Wood Phase, because wood parts earth.
The combination of Water Phase and Metal Phase cancels out any resistance or weakness to Earth Phase, and the combination of Metal Phase and Earth Phase cancels out any resistance or weakness to Water Phase.
It seems this Yuuma has also gained a resistance to Fire Phase and Star Essence in order to combat Flandre and Okina.

The 17.5th Prolonged Incident
Various places across Gensokyo were flooded by black water gushing up out of the ground. It originated from the Former Hell of Blood Pools, where Yuuma dwelt. But she didn't even realize it was happening. Someone else was pulling the strings. After Yuuma sent Reimu packing, Flandre appeared before her. A youkai had been sent to exterminate a youkai, to fight blood with blood. However, right when their battle was nearing its climax, the one who sent Flandre, Okina Matara, revealed herself―a sure sign that things were about to get even more complicated.
This world's Yuuma seems to have received a significant power boost from Okina. So significant that Flandre had no hope of beating her. Was this what Okina intended? Okina does have a bad habit of overcomplicating things, so it's easy to blame her for what happened. But in this case, at least, she had a good reason. Yuuma's power and disposition change depending on what she eats. So the only way to defeat her was to turn this strength into a weakness. She had to sneakily tempt her into opening her mouth so wide that she wouldn't see what she was about to swallow. This is a tried-and-true method for defeating monsters that has successfully slain everything from man-eating sharks to kaiju.
The plan was to get Yuuma to unwittingly eat Flandre's destructive power. And she was sure that would happen if she gave Yuuma some of her power. She was absolutely sure. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. Yuuma still hasn't shown any sign of wanting to eat Flandre. It seems she received not only a boost in strength, but in smarts. So, yes, it was Okina's fault!
Also, it should be noted that this isn't even Yuuma's final form.

The Former Hell of Blood Pools is covered in black water. It's petroleum, a composite of lingering regrets and grudges held by ancient lifeforms long deceased. It could also be thought of as a spiritual solution composed of liquefied vengeful spirits, the filthy, impure dregs of those abandoned by the Yama and shunned by everyone, even the oni. But to Yuuma Toutetsu, this sea of black water is a veritable feast.

Even in a place as harsh and desolate as the Former Hell of Blood Pools, some creatures choose to live there. They're extremophiles, living embodiments of the phrase "home is where you make it." Yuuma is one such creature. The Former Hell of Blood Pools is a great fit for her because she will eat literally anything. The only other inhabitants are beings who must subsist on the thing this place provides in abundance: the impure, rotten, and condensed residue that seeps down to the deepest depths.

While Saki and Yachie were busy battling Keiki and the humans, Yuuma was scheming. And her schemes paid off. She managed to resolve her food shortage problems, at least for the time being, by finding the Former Hell of Blood Pools. As a rule, the Gouyoku Alliance avoids conflict whenever possible. But this isn't because they're pacifists. Far from it. They're simply patient. To them, everything is prey, and they hunt their prey using the most efficient means that entail the least risk.

Yuuma decided she might as well use this incident to her advantage. The Former Hell of Blood Pools wasn't going to sustain her forever, after all. As a taotie beast god, her hunger would never be fully satisfied until she devoured the entire world. She could speed this up by flooding Gensokyo and every other realm with black water, turning everything into one big meal she could eat at her leisure. And the appetizer would be the vampire's sister, Flandre Scarlet!
But she still couldn't understand what that strange god was up to. Why would she pit a noble vampire who drinks fresh blood against a beast god who guzzles old blood?
