Lover of Working Behind the Scenes

Sawakaze (a Touhou LW original) refers to a breeze near a mountain stream. This is the temperament of Nitori, who works behind the scenes to prevent her rival from monopolizing the market. Nitori is endowed with Water Phase as she hides beneath the water's surface and Moon Essence with her skillful two-faced dealings. The flexible and patient Water Phase resists Metal Phase, because metal collects water, but it is weak to Earth Phase, because earth directs water. The cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence resists the alluring and arrogant Sun Essence, but it is weak to the diverse and uncooperative Star Essence.
The ability of Nitori Kawashiro from the world with a black market. There are no noticeable differences between this ability and that of other Nitoris. The disturbance caused by Chimata Tenkyuu's ability had many long-lasting effects on Gensokyo. Perhaps the most notable was that it directly led to the black market trading of Ability Cards. Thanks to Marisa's investigation, aided by Chimata's careful observance and Nitori working behind the scenes in opposition to the very idea of black markets, the mastermind was revealed to be a certain yamawaro. When everything came to a close, it was decided that the yamawaro's plans were nothing more than a clever business venture... or at least, that's how it was meant to go. Markets naturally arise when groups of intelligent beings gather together. Like humans, youkai have their own civilization. While it is predominantly spiritual and magical, they have developed economically, too. Most youkai live far longer than humans, so their sensibilities and views of the world are completely different. However, that doesn't necessarily mean they disagree on everything. Since youkai are forced to rely on humans for their mental and spiritual needs, they can surpass humans in academic, artistic, and cultural pursuits fueled by the spirit. For example, kappa excel at engineering, oni at architecture and construction, and magicians at natural philosophy (called spirit magic among youkai). Youkai manage to go one step further than humans in all these pursuits because they adhere to magical theories―they take the unscientific approach of utilizing the unknown without attempting to unravel its mysteries. The acts of youkai may seem outdated, steeped in myth, or even outright wrong, but the truth is that they've simply transcended the scope of human understanding. Perhaps the most extreme example of this can be seen with the Lunarians from the Lunar Capital. The youkai of Gensokyo have their own currency and an economy that encourages free trade. What sets it apart from human economies is how they price things. Even though Ability Cards cannot be taken by force, the coins needed to purchase them are obtained through battles of bullets. This implies that the prices of the cards are in some way based on their effectiveness in battles. Considering how battles of bullets are essentially just a game, youkai probably think of their economy as a game, too. However, it undoubtedly succeeds at the main point of an economy―providing a low-risk means of obtaining things without having to resort to theft or violence. In this way, it's similar to the Spell Card Rules... in fact, they're probably related. Markets are battlefields, so someone will inevitably try to dominate them. Kappa and yamawaro are often thought of as mercantile youkai, but that undersells their prowess as economic strategists. Whenever new and complex rules are introduced, they are always the first to understand and exploit them, sometimes disrupting the entire market in the process. It's a dance of judging prices and juggling numbers, where you're free to choose to be happy with what you have or gobble up everything you can before it's too late. Success is not determined by hard and fast guidelines but by free spirits running rampant. The black markets were a youkai game that was supposed to settle down after the market god directed a human to investigate them. However, it probably didn't take much for the conflict to get drawn out because it was never really about the money―it's a clash between spirits and egos.
The Spread Shot of Nitori Kawashiro from the world with a black market (a Touhou LW original). She uses Ability Cards from her stash. Ability Cards contain partial copies of people's abilities, memories, and temperaments, thanks to the properties of the dragon gems used to make them. With these cards and a bit of skill, Nitori can use attacks that not even Reimu is capable of.
The Focus Shot of Nitori Kawashiro from the world with a black market (a Touhou LW original). When Nitori first tried using Ability Cards in battles of bullets, the gears really started turning in her head. Like most kappa, Nitori loves collecting, making, and selling all kinds of items, but she has also experienced quite a few battles with humans. Reimu and Marisa's bullets are incredibly powerful, so she thought to emulate them by employing multiple Ability Cards at once. This is a tactic that only card dealers can use.
A Spell Card of Nitori Kawashiro from the world with a black market. She shoots jets of water in a manner reminiscent of a flamethrower. With their knowledge of items and engineering, it isn't that uncommon to see kappa armed with crazy, over-the-top weapons. Nitori is a prime example of this. She knows that sometimes power is necessary to protect her assets. Did she learn this from the oni she used to serve under? Or maybe she took notes from human history, where some companies have gone as far as hiring mercenaries to form their own private armies?
A Spell Card of Nitori Kawashiro from the world with a black market. She attacks with marsh water bullets. It makes a certain kind of sense that kappa, with their ability to manipulate water, are shrewd businesspeople. Not because they can make a killing by bottling water and selling it but because, historically, human trade has always followed the waterways. Rivers offer a source of fresh water as well as a means of transporting large amounts of goods. It's much more efficient to carry things by boat, and that's why ancient civilizations emerged near rivers. The oceans fulfill a similar purpose for modern-day cities. The largest cities, port cities, obtain great power and wealth thanks to all the goods, people, and information that flow through them.
The Last Word of Nitori Kawashiro from the world with a black market (a Touhou LW original). She exposes the corrupt capitalists with this attack. Will you pick the left card or the right card? Will you dodge up or down? If you're on your own, you can freely decide. But business deals aren't like that. They aren't always fair. Everyone's sitting around the same colossal table, and you don't get to choose your seat. The most respected or intimidating person chooses first, and then everyone has to follow their lead. That's how prices are set. "That's so scummy, Takane! I won't let you get away with this!"
The head priest of the temple is gentle and kind, but her fighting style is tough as nails.
She may be small, but you underestimate her at your own peril.
You can scheme and plot as much as you like. Plans won't help you when someone truly strong comes knocking.
