There are many kinds of gods in Gensokyo, though most seem to reside on the Youkai Mountain. Unsurprisingly, the only shrine there is Moriya Shrine, a relatively new one. There are the ruins of a temple, suggesting that wandering monks or ascetics once worshipped gods there through a blend of Buddhism and Shinto. But nowadays, they can only really gather faith from youkai, some of whom do actually worship gods.

That alone says a lot about how easygoing, and at the same time, how out of place, the gods of Gensokyo really are. Even the deity of Hakurei Shrine would likely feel out of place at a gathering of outside world gods. One can almost imagine them saying they came to Gensokyo because they had nowhere else to go... especially those from Moriya Shrine. Considering how much influence the Moriya gods now possess, one cannot help but question the unfortunate state of Gensokyo's other gods... But Misumaru Tamatsukuri is different. At least, in mindset.

It was a role she held precisely because she governs minerals and the magic items known as magatama. Naturally, she knew just how extraordinary the Izanagi Objects were. There was likely no one who understood them better than she did. But that also meant her opportunities to learn anything beyond her own knowledge were limited. What other kinds of Izanagi Objects existed? And if other gods were entrusted with their safekeeping, what kind of beings are they? They must have some kind of connection to Izanagi... but whenever she tried following that line of thought, she never got very far.

There's no telling when something like that might happen again. When that time comes, the Izanagi Objects may be the only thing that can save us. Letting the youkai handle things is a mistake waiting to happen. I must properly deal with this situation under my own authority. It has to be me, not the humans. If this incident drags on until then, so be it."
