Character Information

Temperament: Kiri-niji
Kiri-niji (a Touhou LW original) refers to a luminous ring formed when light is scattered by fog. This is an apt temperament for Chimata, the market organizer from the world of eternal autumn. Chimata's temperament has been thoroughly reconstructed from the laws governing the Three Essences and Five Phases. "At markets, goods circulate freely and ownership changes constantly." (Strong against Wood Phase.) "Stumbling upon all sorts of creative works is the best feeling." (Strong against Star Essence.) "But it's important to take your time and find things that really speak to you." (Weak to Earth Phase.)
Ability/Backstory: Capable of letting one relinquish ownership (Sky)
The ability of Chimata Tenkyuu from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). This ability seems practically the same as the Chimata of our world's ability. However, as a resident of the world of eternal autumn, she is unapologetic when it comes to her tastes and interests. The markets this Chimata puts on are perfect for geeking out. The world of eternal autumn is all about embracing your hobbies to the max. It may seem crazy that such a world can function, but perhaps that's only because modern human societies have become stifling. Perhaps the numerous constraints serve some function for such highly populated civilizations, but they're a double-edged sword, threatening to sever people from their own humanity. Being able to instantly and reliably attain anything you want at a market is certainly convenient, but it comes at a cost. Food waste, energy shortages, prolonged deflation, and sudden spikes in inflation can all be traced back to markets. Producers and consumers cannot be separated. Nor can supply and demand. A single person may be a consumer in one market and a producer in another. One moment they're a buyer, the next a seller. This is the true and original nature of the economy-driving human. Like a magnet, they can both push and pull, creating economic motion. But the demand for convenience, low prices, and high quality eventually catches up to them. Convenience requires sleepless labor. Low prices require low wages. High quality requires skilled workers. The later a human enters the market, the harsher the competition. If they can't meet expectations, they receive neither reward nor opportunity. Karma can be a foul mistress. Chimata's markets evoke the spirit of traditional markets. You open your own stall. You see the goods with your own eyes. You buy and sell as you please. Everything comes down to you. And therein lies the beauty. The certainty that you alone decide your fate makes Chimata's markets truly special. Now, we've already talked about how markets form the bedrock of civilization. With that in mind, it's clear that thinking of Chimata Tenkyuu as a weak, irrelevant god is a mistake. Some believe the more natural and primordial a god is, the more powerful and deistic they appear, while the more urban, abstract, or anthropomorphized they become, the more modern, human-sized, overly specialized, and weaker they appear. That may even hold some truth regarding the eight million gods in Japan. However, we can also choose to focus on a god's realm of authority, and the marketplace is an enormous realm to have control over. If a "field" in physics is defined by theory and observable data, then its abstract, virtual counterpart is a market―a theoretical field where goods and services are exchanged, mirroring the forces and particles in physical fields. Managing a market is akin to managing physical systems, and likely comes with its own set of constraints. No matter how far human civilization advances, it remains a virtual construct, built from the blessings of the Sun and the Earth. Chimata's markets still carry the memory of those early morning streets once lined with stalls. After a surge of passionate customers, they vanish as if they had been illusions all along. The morning market returns to a normal street, and Chimata's market returns to an empty exhibition hall. Or a conference center, depending on the day. And yet, passion remains in the hearts of those who were there. So when the time comes, the market opens again. No matter how long the wait, the desire to attend the next one never fades. The world of eternal autumn may not be your typical world, but the fact that geeky markets like Chimata's have taken root there means they have been lost from the outside world. But what kind of world would let such marvelous things slip away? Now you might be thinking about me, the one writing this, and whether my world has markets like Chimata's. Am I in Gensokyo or the outside world?

Orderly Lines

The Focus Shot of Chimata Tenkyuu from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). She promotes the importance of maintaining orderly lines. Considering that gods are spiritual beings and that the basic nature of divine spirits is identical to that of ghosts, their health is determined by temperament. Of course, even in humans, illness can be seen as a matter of temperament. This only reinforces the idea that gods, too, are susceptible to illness. They may not catch the same diseases, but in simple terms, illness is a state of being unable to act as normal, whether physically or mentally. In that sense, human illness and god illness are alike. The sick individual feels terrible, and those around them are filled with pity. Attending a big market in such a state is all but out of the question.

Incognito Organizer's Booth Tour

A Spell Card of Chimata Tenkyuu from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). She highlights some of the circles and artistic works that have caught her attention. It was a bumpy ride, but in the end, Chimata made a full recovery. She got out of bed at last and ventured outside as her old, bubbly self. However, she couldn't go back to the way things were. In order not to fall ill again, measures had to be taken, adaptations had to be made. But that wasn't a big deal. She was more focused on something else: bringing the Bullet Market back!

New Release Hunter

A Spell Card of Chimata Tenkyuu from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). Even the organizer jumps for joy when she gets her hands on a new release. The flicker of anxiety in Chimata's mind vanished in an instant. More people had come forward to help than she ever expected. At this rate, the next market would be the biggest one yet. She couldn't have been happier. She even felt something that she had almost forgotten―faith. People believed in her. But her work was far from over. Until the market was held, she couldn't afford to let up. Luckily, there was nothing in the world she would rather do.

Bullet Market Revival Declaration

The Last Word of Chimata Tenkyuu from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). The Bullet Market is back! A flower has no brain or nerves, yet it knows when to bloom. Holding and attending markets isn't an instinct carved into human DNA. And while markets are no trivial affair, they aren't a matter of life and death. However, people organize them time and time again. Why? To say they're acting on impulse would be wrong. They are both orderly and passionate. If anything, they could be likened to daidarabotchi youkai―they awake from their slumber periodically and make their massive presence known. But when the giant doesn't stir, people worry. Daidarabotchi may look like they're sleeping, but they're actually afflicted with an illness. Within their massive bodies, a war is being waged. The pain and sorrow of being bedridden stem from the sense that death is lurching closer. Setting up the market was an arduous task. Chimata was incredibly grateful to all those who lent her their strength, and prayed that anyone who suffered pain and sorrow would find comfort.
