Character Information

Temperament: Kasshou Giri
Kasshou Giri (a Touhou LW original) refers to the mist that forms when humid wind ascends a mountain slope and cools as it rises. This is a fitting temperament for Nitori, who thrives as a solo game developer in the world of eternal autumn. Nitori's temperament has been thoroughly reconstructed from the laws governing the Three Essences and Five Phases. "Indie games are exciting!" (Strong against Fire Phase.) "They're so much fun!" (Strong against Water Phase.) "What?! There's a yamawaro game black market?!" (Weak to Wood Phase.)
Ability/Backstory: Capable of manipulating water (Sky)
The ability of Nitori Kawashiro from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). This ability seems practically the same as the Nitori of our world's ability. However, as a resident of the world with eternal autumn, she is far more open and honest about her personal interests and passions. For Nitori, that meant sharing the wonder of indie games with everyone. The world delirious with eternal autumn is a world overflowing with art and hobbies, suspended between abundance and demise. A world where the seasonal cycle of spring, summer, autumn, and winter has collapsed into an endless succession of autumns. Crops can no longer be harvested under such conditions, and without the passing of seasons, even endings cease to exist. It felt like the work of some mastermind behind the scenes, yet no one moved to investigate, at least, not openly. Maybe this incident had lasted for so long that it simply became a part of life. Or maybe it was an incident so intricately designed that everyone believed this perpetual autumn was perfectly normal. Even youkai are known to have concepts of religion and faith, as seen among the youkai of Myouren Temple or in the primitive beliefs once practiced by the kappa. Programmers too are known for their fervent devotion to their own gods. A programmer is one who manipulates programs, which are basically like spells that define the behavior of electronic devices. Machines that operate through such programs are generally called computers. However, in Gensokyo, they are called shikigami. There are quite a few beings in Gensokyo, such as Ran Yakumo, who could be described as programmers, or perhaps system engineers. This Nitori is likely one of them, though she seems to be devoted entirely to the art of game creation. AAA games are all well and good, but this Nitori prefers indie games and likes to work alone. Even if her games turn out a bit rough around the edges, she finds joy in bringing her own ideas to life by coding everything herself. Every now and then, game consoles from the outside world find their way into Gensokyo, and she has always been fascinated by them. After all, the world of games runs far deeper than it seems. As Nitori delved deeper into the world of indie games, she began to notice something strange. The games she admires most had drifted in from the outside world. Among them was one particular genre that seemed oddly similar to Gensokyo's traditional battles of bullets. Once she saw it, she couldn't unsee it. But what could this mean? Could it be that intel on Gensokyo's battles of bullets somehow leaked into the outside world, inspiring the games created there? Nitori considered the possibility, but it just didn't sit right with her. Something about it didn't add up, but she couldn't think of any other explanation. If this really was some kind of incident, there were plenty of so-called experts who'd handle it eventually, so she decided to leave it be. Most people, not just the denizens of Gensokyo, tend to act according to their own whims. No one ever truly got together to fight the great evil. That's not how the world works. That's why Nitori enjoys making games alone just as much as she enjoys playing games other people have made. However, the uncanny resemblance between battles of bullets and the games created in the outside world can't be a mere coincidence. Something must be happening out there. Something was happening out there. This Gensokyo is trapped in an eternal autumn, so its outside world can't possibly be normal. But what could be happening out there? Nitori was on the verge of realizing the truth, but she was far too absorbed in her game development to notice. At least for now.

Attacks

Code Sprint

The Spread Shot of Nitori Kawashiro from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). She codes at full speed in this attack. Gensokyo and its neighboring realms are home to many forms of advanced technology. The Lunar Capital's super-science appears old-fashioned, yet its progress is strikingly futuristic. The celestials wield mysterious machines that seem to embody the essence of Tao. Moriya Shrine's divine science reinterprets technology through the eyes of gods. Items from the outside world carry traces of modern science and even shikigami that function like computers. Compared to all that, the kappa's technology may seem inferior, but that would be a very wrong assumption.

Going Gold

The Focus Shot of Nitori Kawashiro from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). She completes coding her program with this attack. Kappa technology is the best because Gensokyo is the place where lost things gather. Technology is something that's passed down through generations, but it is also abandoned and forgotten. Yet treasures can be found among these abandoned technologies. The kappa use their webbed hands to draw out that hidden potential, making them the undisputed masters of invention.

Play Sign: Fun Hackathon

A Spell Card of Nitori Kawashiro from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). Everyone programs a game together in a short burst of creative energy. There's joy in working alone, and joy in creating together. Both can be experienced at a hackathon. Nitori programs her own games, sells them herself, and witnesses firsthand the joy they bring. In turn, she purchases and plays the works of her peers. This continuous cycle of creation, exchange, and inspiration is what she lives for.

A Spell Card of Nitori Kawashiro from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). Everyone programs a game together in a short burst of creative energy. Time seems to stand still in Gensokyo, as if there is a boundary around it that blocks the flow of time. Case in point, the culture in Gensokyo has remained more or less rooted in the era when the Great Hakurei Barrier was formed. However, another point in time has had a significant yet harder-to-define impact on Gensokyo―the end of the twentieth century. How the youkai perceive the twentieth century with their lunar calendar remains unclear. Perhaps, around that time, the very flow of time in Gensokyo had slowed down, or even stopped altogether. If anyone might know the truth, it would be the kappa, who worship dragons dwelling in the waters. After all, dragons are beings that traverse worlds. But this is merely conjecture.

The Ultimate Game Dev Speedrun

The Last Word of Nitori Kawashiro from the world delirious with eternal autumn (a Touhou LW original). There's something special about creating things yourself. When you make something on your own, it doesn't have to be perfect, and you don't have to copy other people's methods. It's not about that. Finishing the game was important, but for Nitori, what mattered was making it herself. Because what she truly wanted was to create. Her next game may end up much like the last. But as long as the world had room for it, the legacy of the twentieth century would keep playing out. Even if the world changes, as long as there is a sense of stability and different people with different needs, indie products might continue to thrive for eternity. Such thoughts had suddenly come to Nitori. It felt as though this had always been her passion.
