The usual outfit of Marisa (F1) from Multiverse Trail 4. An impossible fate, where she crash-landed on a terraformed planet.

I'm Marisa Kirisame. Hey, don't touch my mushrooms. Don't you dare.
Introduction
This Forest of Magic goes on forever... How long has it been since I crash-landed in this absurd world? Well, mushrooms? Don't tell me this is the Star Cradle, the paradise I've been searching for. That would not be funny. Then again, seems my worries are over. Soon, my mind will finally become one with the forest. Good night, world. I doubt I'll ever wake up again... Huh?! Where am I? Is this Hakurei Shrine?! What happened? And who are you...? Ahem, I'm Marisa Kirisame, a scholar of star magic and fungi and an expert on interworld travel. Do you mind if I ask you some questions? I've got lots.
Purple Heart
Hm? Have you got mushrooms on your head, too?
Blue Heart
When I came here, my fuzzy mind suddenly became clear. I'm still small, though.
Green Heart
I brought a few mushrooms with me, but don't mind them. They're like a part of me now. They won't bite.
Orange Heart
I understand that in most timelines, I look more like an adult. Comparing me with any other Marisa makes that obvious. Sometimes, the mushrooms would show me consoling dreams. An illusion of paradise filled with people who care about me and a shadowy figure claiming to be my childhood friend.
Pink Heart
Mushrooms are connected to the entire forest, forming a mycelium universe. I'm free from it now, which is probably why I can clearly remember Gensokyo. But I still can't remember why I set out on my journey. My earliest memory is crash-landing in that other world.
Autumn
In autumn, every day is a mushroom festival. But you gotta be careful. It's also a poisonous mushroom fiesta. Hehehe!
If I talk to the people here, I might be able to make up for the holes eaten out of my memory by the mushrooms. Luckily, there are plenty of parallel mes. They seem to spring up like mushrooms after the rain. Time for some self-analysis.
Enhancement
These mushrooms also give me knowledge. So don't pull them out.
Return
The light of bullets is a spark that can pierce through membranes. That's the basics of interworld travel.
Home 1
Don't overcomplicate things. Think of multiverses as classes and Singular Worlds as instances. Don't try to understand more than that. You won't succeed.
Home 2
There is a finite number of possible patterns. That's why all the possible patterns of a universe can fit in a single spacetime. We call these probability spaces.
Home 3
Say there are 100 distinct possible patterns. What would the 101st possibility be? It would be identical to one of the 100 patterns.
Reaction 1
Thanks to the mushrooms, my brain has a broader perspective. That's why most people can't hold a conversation with me.
Reaction 2
I'm guessing I found these mushrooms before I met up with the other interworld travelers. But maybe the other mes are different.
Reaction 3
Why are you sleeping on my lap? Was I boring you? Argh, you're heavy... *pats head*
Task
A bath? Hmmm... It's a pain, but I guess I should take one.
Task Complete
I finished my bath. The high temperature and humidity get the mushrooms all excited. It's not fun.
Mail
A letter? It's like an interstellar object.
Errand Finished
My familiar's back. Leave what you gathered there.
Start of Battle
Mushrooms are great! Hehehe.
Mid-Wave
Hehehe! Next! Next!
Victory
*deep breaths* Phew, I finally stopped laughing.
Defeat
I-I'm gonna die of laughter...

Character Information
Temperament: En-u
En-u (a Touhou LW original) refers to rain so fine that it appears to form a thin mist.
"Who and what I am is limited by my perceptions of the boundaries between outer space and inner space, macrocosm and microcosm. I believe that others are bound by similar limits. However, this might not be the case. Who's to say that there aren't other types of consciousness that are just as valid? That's what it says in this book: Magical Principles of the Star System Worldview."
"Rain, forests, and magic..." (Strong against Water Phase, Wood Phase, and Moon Essence.)
"Sounds like a description of the Forest of Magic. This whole world, this whole planet, is the Forest of Magic. Or maybe... this world is me."
Ability/Backstory: Capable of using magic?
The ability of Marisa Kirisame (F1) from Multiverse Trail 4 (a Touhou LW original). It's basically the same as the abilities belonging to most other Marisas.
This divergent fate doesn't seem possible. Something must have gone wrong when Marisa was traveling between parallel worlds, causing her to crash-land on this mysterious planet... It's as if the Forest of Magic texture has been copy-pasted everywhere. There's no sea or mountains, only a never-ending forest covered in a suffocating blanket of miasma and spores. Marisa isn't sure when it happened, but she has lost the will or desire to escape. This forest has a thirst for knowledge that seems to echo Marisa's. To the forest, she is a marebito, a wellspring of knowledge from another world.
The following is a report found in a book that outwardly resembled a grimoire. It has been rendered barely legible by the fungus growing all over it.
Marisa stopped counting the days. She doesn't know when exactly, but it was a long time ago. Her sense of self was slipping away. Soon, it would completely fade. Miss Retroid was lying beside her in a similar state. What went wrong? Was it because she licked those mushrooms? No...
"It's 'cause of magic. That's what it all boils down to."
If you talk to a mushroom, it won't talk back. Everyone knows that. But Marisa had questions that only a mushroom could answer. She wanted to know what they were, what they were doing, what their purpose was. Of course, they couldn't tell her, so she did what any good magician would do and started researching. Essentially, she tried to draw the answers out of them by boiling them, straining their juices, and adding whatever she could think of to the solution. While unintelligible to most, these experiments were a direct, purely distilled conversation. That's what research is―a conversation with things that cannot talk back.
"In the end, I don't know who won. Was it me or the mushrooms?"
Research is a conversation, but that doesn't necessarily mean it gives you the right answers. After all, sometimes there is no right answer. Searching for something that doesn't exist is a wasted effort. Unfortunately, you can never know when something doesn't exist, so you end up pouring infinite time into a futile search. Mushrooms might not have a will of their own. And while it looks like they can move, perhaps they are merely swaying in the wind. Or maybe... that's what they think of Marisa. This is the kind of thing that she assumed would be a problem with aliens. She didn't even struggle this much when dealing with youkai, though, admittedly, her memories of youkai are hazy. Conversing with true aliens, from far-off planets, would at least feel unreal and exciting, whereas mushrooms... It's like they're too close, too familiar.
"Still, we've been through a lot together, huh? So many memories."
For a second, she thought a mushroom spoke to her. But she soon realized it was her mind playing tricks. Mushrooms wouldn't talk like that. Surely this was just some kind of vision she was seeing before the end. It felt like this was her Omega Point, as if her life were constantly flashing before her eyes. The Omega Point... Infinity... Did this mean that as long as she stayed like this, she'd never die, that time would never progress? This would also mean that the clock frequency of her thoughts would keep slowing down... She was already bored. She was sick of this.
"Then why don't we play together? Like old times."
The mushroom was starting to get on Marisa's nerves. Why in the world would she want to play with it? Sure, she wanted to play with mushrooms before. That's why she'd been trying to converse with them all this time, but wasn't it a bit late for that now? And why was it talking so normally? It's a mushroom for goodness' sake! This didn't make any sense.
It stopped talking, which only infuriated Marisa further. Her body and mind were becoming one with the forest, with the fungi. She no longer knew where she ended and the forest began. The same thing was happening to Miss Retroid lying beside her...
"Yes, I'm also becoming one with the forest. That's why we can play together again."
[The report ends here.]
Tiny Miss Retroid
Presumably, this special type of Satellite, called a Foundling, shrank for the same reasons as Marisa. She's Marisa's experimental familiar and her friend. Even though she cannot talk, she is clearly stressed out by this whole situation, even more so than Marisa. And, of course, she has also been infected and degraded by the fungi.
Attacks
Mushroom Laser
The Spread Shot of Marisa Kirisame (F1) from Multiverse Trail 4 (a Touhou LW original). She fires a laser that has been degraded by forest fungi.
If it weren't for the fungi, Marisa would have surely retained more of her memories. She had no defense against them. You may think that fungi are simple, primitive organisms, but they harbor an intelligence that far exceeds that of humans. You've been warned.

Mushroom Missile

Marisa's memories are hazy, so she can no longer recall how or why her body shrank, but there's no doubt that the fungi are to blame. Fungal hyphae spread far deeper into their host than can be seen with the naked eye. And because new hyphae form so quickly, thanks to their simplistic structure, it is almost impossible to completely remove the fungus from its host. Once they get inside, there's nothing you can do. Fungi are destined to grow and spread until they cover the entire world. It's only a matter of time.

Forest Sign: Intelligent Morchella
A Spell Card of Marisa Kirisame (F1) from Multiverse Trail 4 (a Touhou LW original). She attacks with intelligent morel bullets.
This Marisa only realized how truly dangerous fungi could be after she had been infected and horribly degraded by them. Actually, perhaps she only surmised this through abductive reasoning because she had been infected. It opened her eyes. Normally, Marisa loves learning new things, but this was anything but normal...

Marisa was gifted with knowledge without her even having to ask. Whether it comes from divine revelation or word of mouth, all knowledge is equally valuable. Especially for people like Marisa. But something felt off about this. Or was that just the feeling of fungi hanging off her brain? Maybe having knowledge force-fed directly into her mind wasn't actually a gift. Perhaps it was a curse.

The Last Word of Marisa Kirisame (F1) from Multiverse Trail 4 (a Touhou LW original). She is infected by another intelligence's way of life in this attack.
If magic is the application of knowledge, then this Forest of Magic planet is one big magician, and Marisa is nothing more than a tiny mushroom growing on its back. But what kind of magician would ignore a rare mushroom? The tables had turned. Marisa was now the subject of the Forest of Magic's research. How did Marisa treat the rare mushrooms that she found? She probably brought them home while being careful not to damage them. She would then observe them and record her findings. Then, after all kinds of experiments, she'd decide whether to use them as a component for her spells or cook them up and eat them.
