Unei (a Touhou LW original) refers to a cloudy sky. This is an apt temperament for Sakuya, a maid who enjoys festivals. Sakuya plays her Silver Blade (Metal Phase) as the mysterious guitarist of the devilish band Scarlet Devil Mansion (Moon Essence). The cold and silent Metal Phase resists Earth Phase, because earth bears metal, but it is weak to Fire Phase, because fire refines metal. The cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence resists the alluring and arrogant Sun Essence, but it is weak to the diverse and uncooperative Star Essence.

The ability of Sakuya Izayoi from the world of music festivals (a Touhou LW original). It's basically the same as the abilities belonging to most other Sakuyas. After observing and learning from multiple failed attempts to prevent the Lost Word Incident from spreading, the denizens of this Sakuya's world have decided to try and resolve it by holding music festivals. The arrival of the Scarlet Devil Mansion band kicked off the first official incident concert―the Scarlet Mist Incident Concert! The band, named after their abode, was led by a vampire who plotted to take over Gensokyo by covering it in an eerie scarlet mist. Reimu and Marisa took up their mics and headed to the concert venue next to the Misty Lake to deal with them. Back then, Sakuya still didn't have her Silver Blade guitar, so she made do with a more standard knife-shaped guitar. Their band's image and style weren't fully fleshed out yet, either. They mostly just performed solo or had friendly jam sessions. The legend of how Sakuya found her Silver Blade and her devilish showdown with Youmu's Crossed Swords came later. Satisfied with her life as a maid, Sakuya merely played the guitar as a hobby. But that all changed when incidents started occurring. Her mistress, Remilia, needed her to perform. She had a clear understanding of her work as a maid. She knew what she needed to do and how to do it. But for guitar... she was crazy good at it from the moment she picked it up on a whim, so she didn't really know where to take it from there. You might think she should just try to enjoy the journey, but that would belittle the duty Lady Remilia entrusted to her. One fateful night, Sakuya went to clean Remilia's room, like usual, but this time, she forgot to knock on the door. That's when she saw Remilia standing by the window, bathed in the gentle light of the Moon. Her hair was swaying softly in the wind, and from her tiny mouth... came a super adorable, irresistibly cute vampire voice! Sakuya decided then and there that she would commit her entire life to playing guitar just to hear Remilia sing again! And that's how Remilia became the lead singer of Scarlet Devil Mansion.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Sakuya stakes her life on her guitar. She plays for Lady Remilia. It all started when Sakuya heard her mistress sing to herself. She sang shyly and softly as if fearful others would hear her. But if that's what she truly wanted, she would never have opened her mouth in the first place. She would not have risked her image as a proud and noble vampire. Sakuya heard her sing on that moonlit night, so that must mean she wished for the whole of Gensokyo to hear her voice. Sakuya was determined to make that happen. "Now, it's time for a song... You're up, Lady Remilia! "Huh? ...Wh-Why me?!" "Kyahahaha, sing Remilia, sing!"
