Character Information
Temperament: Kawakaze
Kawakaze (a Touhou LW original) refers to wind caused by the difference in temperature between a river and its surroundings, as well as wind that takes the path of a river. Kappa are youkai of the river, so this is a fitting temperament for Nitori. Nitori is endowed with Water Phase, due to her tenacious yet flexible mindset as an engineer and saleswoman, and Moon Essence, from the sense of community she feels with her friends.
The flexible and patient Water Phase resists Metal Phase, because metal collects water, but it is weak to Earth Phase, because earth directs water.
The cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence resists the alluring and arrogant Sun Essence, but it is weak to the diverse and uncooperative Star Essence.
Ability/Backstory: Capable of manipulating water
This might sound like a natural ability for any kappa to have, but it is not as simple as it seems. This innate ability allows Nitori to manipulate water without any tools at all. Some say that kappa are the remains of former water gods―it would be unwise to underestimate them. Nitori is not often seen making full use of her ability, but perhaps she is using it in her Spell Cards. Incidentally, the development of precision machinery is said to have developed in places where clean water flows, forging an unbreakable connection between the Iron Age and water. Water and engineering have always been inseparable.

Nitori Kawashiro's Spread Shot (a Touhou LW original). It refers to a type of fighting style that uses fists. Nitori uses an extendable mechanical arm to attack her target. There is a type of Chinese youkai called tsuuhai enkou which can extend one arm while shortening the other, and that characteristic lives in Japanese kappa. Nitori named her extendable mechanical arm after that Chinese youkai out of respect.

After combining, Sanpei functions as a heavily armed booster rocket, while the separated cockpit takes over as a light fighting plane... Or well, it would be nice if it worked that way, anyway.
