I'm the king of the yamanba, Ubame Chirizuka. I keep hearing about you at the sanctuary, so I came to see what all the fuss was about.
Introduction
So you're that human, huh? I'm Ubame Chirizuka. Everyone at the sanctuary has been talking about you, so I thought I'd see what's up. I may not look it, but I'm the chief of the yamanba. To keep quietly watching over the antisocial yamanba, I gotta actively nip problems in the bud. But you're just a kid. You're no threat to us. Seems the rumors were exaggerated... Hm? You want me to teach you how to cook like a yamanba? Wait, are you Nemuno's... No, you can't be. But that air cutting... Are you Hakurei Shrine's cook?! Um, you can stop pretending to cut things now... Stop acting all weird!
Purple Heart
As long as you keep loving nature, you'll have my respect.
Blue Heart
Even though yamanba are antisocial and hate people meddling in their affairs, we still have a society of our own.
Green Heart
If a group has rules―no matter how basic―it's a society. But we yamanba don't make our society more complicated. That's what sets us apart from humans and tengu.
Orange Heart
Humans and tengu make too many superfluous things―both physical and conceptual. And as a result, you get tangled up in them all. You humans seem to think yamanba are cold, heartless youkai. But what's truly terrifying is the way you strangle each other.
Pink Heart
The yamanba, monkeys, Miss Chimi, and all the animals live in the great natural landscape of the sanctuary. There is no stealing or sacrifice―we simply take turns borrowing and sharing what we need to live. Doesn't that sound like the perfect society to you?
Summer
That plant you found is called uwabamisou. You can turn it into kinpira, or simmer it in a broth. It also tastes good with miso, sesame dressing, or pickled―basically anything, really.
I may be the king, but I'm still a yamanba. Today, I've decided to share my age-old cooking techniques with you. Watch closely, and don't do anything weird.
Enhancement
Even dust, when piled high, becomes a mountain. They're words we live by.
Return
Bullet battles are great and all, but have your cooking skills improved?
Home 1
To maintain any kind of lifestyle, you need enough strength to deal with the unexpected. Nowadays, humans tend to keep a standing army, but for us, this strength is still provided by the king.
Home 2
Did Nemuno tell you about the legendary Kintoki? Yamanba are very good at raising human children. If you weren't a child, well, let's just say that you wouldn't still be here.
Home 3
Biten? Ah, you mean that monkey. Things have gotten a lot noisier ever since she powered up. But Miss Chimi has been living on the mountain for a lot longer than I have, so as long as she doesn't complain, I'll let it slide.
Reaction 1
Sure, we act tough, but in a way, we're simply youkai who've given up on society.
Reaction 2
I don't know much about the Lunarian facility.
Reaction 3
When did you fall asleep on my lap?! What am I gonna do with you...? *pats head*
Task
Tasks, huh? While you do that, I'll go chop some firewood.
Task Complete
Oh, you finished your task... No, I'm still cutting wood. Nemuno probably uses a nata knife, but I just use my fists.
Mail
You can read? You're pretty smart.
Errand Finished
Someone's back. Let's go see how they went.
Start of Battle
If you plan on entering the sanctuary, I won't hold back.
Mid-Wave
I'm gonna toss you out. Every single one of you.
Victory
The sanctuary is our home. You don't belong here. Leave.
Defeat
No... I won't let you take another step!

Character Information
Temperament: Uchuujin
Uchuujin (a Touhou LW original) refers to cosmic dust, particles in space that measure less than 1mm in length. This is an apt temperament for Ubame, the chief of the yamanba who protects and manages the sanctuary. Ubame is endowed with Metal Phase as the one in charge of the sanctuary, and Star Essence because she abhors outside interference.
The cold and silent Metal Phase resists Earth Phase, because earth bears metal, but it is weak to Fire Phase, because fire refines metal.
The diverse and uncooperative Star Essence resists the cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence, but it is weak to the charming and arrogant Sun Essence.
Ability/Backstory: Capable of destroying sanctuaries
The ability of Ubame Chirizuka, the yamanba who brings order to the yamanba sanctuary. Managing the unsociable yamanba can't be easy, so perhaps "destroying sanctuaries" actually refers to her imposing a highly subjective idea of order onto people whenever she wishes.
Generally, the strongest youkai sit atop the youkai pecking order. However, this strength is mostly spiritual. Some youkai, such as mikoshi nyuudou, can be exterminated by a single word or incantation, whereas others, like oni, are all but invulnerable unless specific rites or rituals are performed. Their spirituality, their spiritual strength, comes from concepts like these. It is easy to mistake science as the sole source of rules and order, but spirituality is all about seeing (or wishing to see) order in the natural world. And it is from these observations that faith and fear exist. So, even though yamanba are isolated deep in the mountains, it only makes sense that they have their own rules.
Unlike human rulers, Ubame, the king of the yamanba, displays the strength and wisdom of an elder. The other yamanba only accept her as king because she is strong and wise. If a fight breaks out, she'll be there to mediate it. If an intruder appears, she'll see what they're up to. If there's an outside threat, she'll lead the fight against it, and if you need someone to talk to, she'll always listen.
This hearkens back to an earlier age when rulers and shrine maidens were one and the same, back before governance and religion became separate concepts. To remain the ruler and the shrine maiden, they had to protect their people from all calamities. If they didn't, they would be stripped of their position. However, Ubame doesn't seem concerned about this in the slightest.

Strange King Punch
Ubame Chirizuka's Focus Shot (a Touhou LW original). Forgoing the use of a cleaver, she attacks with her fists.
Physical refuse tends to end up on the Road of Reconsideration or in Muenzuka, but more abstract or conceptual things, like data, seem to pile up deep within the sanctuary. Even dust, when piled high enough, can become a mountain.
Humans believe they have built a highly advanced civilization, even though their internet is a trash heap of information, and their cities are trash heaps full of discarded and unwanted products. Searching through these heaps blurs the line between urban mining and data mining. It's said that one man's trash is another man's treasure, yet there are rules to follow when throwing out trash, and trash that isn't disposed of properly should be cleaned up.

Dust Sign: Cosmic Dust
Ubame Chirizuka's Spell Card. She rains down cosmic dust in this attack.
When you think about it, it's kind of strange that there is also litter in outer space. In the future, space debris will become a very real issue for society at large, but there are other types of cosmic dust that have existed since time immemorial. It is theorized that planets and stars form when this dust coalesces. But who put it there in the first place? Who discarded it?

Some of Ubame's Spell Cards feature what appear to be dolls or fairies that fall higgledy-piggledy down toward her opponent. Does she consider them to be a part of the dust or refuse that she usually attacks with? If so, she'd better hope Medicine Melancholy doesn't hear about it. It's theorized that yamanba are a type of mountain spirit or monster that originated from Western tales of witches and fairies, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Sanctuary's Dust Heap Hierarchy
Ubame Chirizuka's Last Word (a Touhou LW original). She protects the home of the yamanba in this attack.
All kinds of things end up in Gensokyo, but the yamanba sanctuary appears to be the place where the oldest things are gathered and preserved. The yamanba act as park rangers, yet they are also one of the protected species. They couldn't care less if the rest of Gensokyo adopted the advanced civilization of the outside world. All Ubame cares about is protecting the life she and her friends have in the sanctuary. The sanctuary is precious to her, even if it was created as a mere byproduct of the super-scientific facility.

Skills
Skill: Yamanba Traditions
Yamanba don't need detailed or complex laws. They're happy with just a few iron-clad rules.
Skill: Dust King
When piled high enough, even dust can become a mountain. The more dust on the dust heap, the less of an eyesore it becomes.
Skill: King Punch
She doesn't enforce her rule with her fists, but apparently, she can chop ingredients without needing a knife.
