The usual outfit of Yukari, the 25th remnant of the plan. She's always around—on the mountains, by the sea, even in town.
Wordsmith No. 25
Voice Lines
Gacha Pickup
I'm Yukari Yakumo, the gap fairy! But apparently, at heart, I'm Wordsmith No. 25. That's so weird!
Introduction
...I filled in what I was missing with a nearby Yukari Yakumo. Now I'm basically her. Nobody can distinguish me from Yukari Yakumo anymore. ...Not even I can. Aaaand I don't feel even a little bit sorry about it. I'm not going to tell you anything. Everything's a secret! My name is Yukari Yakumo. At the moment, I'm a fake fairy. But if you underestimate me, you'll pay for it with your life. Fairies are the most common beings in Gensokyo. If having multiple Yukaris is too confusing, just call me Nico!
Purple Heart
Self-Similar Demon Realm... No response.
Blue Heart
Wordsmiths are destined to be left behind ninety-nine percent of the time.
Green Heart
So many Wordsmiths have been left behind across countless worlds. Do you know why?
Orange Heart
A spacecraft gains forward velocity due to the reactive force generated when propellant is expelled, and it can't break free of gravity without discarding excess weight. To travel across worlds, each one a condensation of possibility, demands an equivalent price.
Pink Heart
Wordsmiths that are no longer needed are one by one left behind in their respective worlds. Or rather, they cannot be brought along. What matters is that the one Wordsmith at the very top reaches the intended world.
Spring
Does the Fairy Herald of Spring sing because it's time for spring, or does the fairy's song bring spring? As a fairy, I don't even know the difference.
Fairies are common, insignificant beings. When an incident breaks out, they appear in endless numbers, get easily defeated, take a brief break, and then bounce right back like nothing happened. There's no creature more suited to being a Wordsmith, is there?
Enhancement
Fragmentation reversal in progress. ...What's so fun about this?
Return
Those bullets were all sparkly, like stars! I love it!
Home 1
Whether they increase or decrease in number, whether they are born or vanish entirely, nobody really cares. That's what made being a fairy the perfect choice for Wordsmith No. 25.
Home 2
Sorry! I said it was a secret, but honestly, I don't remember anything important. I'm basically the squeezed-out remnant of a Wordsmith.
Home 3
Where do you think the boundary between fairies and everything else lies? Can humans really live apart from nature? It's a tricky subject, isn't it?
Reaction 1
C'mon, let's play! We can have a battle of bullets!
Reaction 2
Huh? Asleep already? You must be tired.
Reaction 3
I'll sleep too. I love sleeping!
Task
A task? If only I could explain to you what the Wordsmith Project is all about...
Task Complete
Task done? Then let's go play!
Mail
Oooh, a letter! Lucky you. I can read letters too, you know?
Errand Finished
Someone's back from their errand! I wonder if they found some interesting trinkets!

Wordsmith system activated. ...C'mon, let's play.
Mid-Wave
Humans can't hear the words spoken by fairies.

Gensokyo is a repository of unspoiled landscapes. Lush wilderness, ancient primeval forests, rivers that flow as they are, untamed mountain slopes, and winds that run along them... One day, they will all be lost from the outside world and only exist in Gensokyo.
Nature is something that simply is. Something that stands on its own. Once, humans were part of nature, but they separated themselves from it. Nature accepted it, and learned to be without them. But humans cannot survive without nature. Humans took what they wanted, and nature gave what it could. Nature perished. And so did humanity.
Ability/Backstory: - Ability Unknown -
The ability of Yukari Yakumo, the 25th remnant of the plan (a Touhou LW original). The details of her ability are unknown.
The following is a report written by an ordinary, insignificant fairy.
Can fairies speak? Fairies strong enough to be considered greater fairies surely can. Apparently, the moonlight fairy even reads books and newspapers. Maybe ordinary fairies could do something similar if they felt motivated enough. But that's not why I can speak. I can speak because someone taught me how to.
"Nature is the foundation of everything. But that's all it is."
That's what the strange fairy who taught me how to speak said. She didn't say it like she strongly agreed or disagreed with it. She simply said it, as a matter of fact. I didn't understand what she meant. I think language is something made by humans, but since I can talk, language must also be something natural. There's such a thing as natural expressions, after all. And since humans are part of nature, their strange behavior must have only come about because of compounding coincidences. Eventually, I feel like they will return to their natural place in the world. Forcing things never lasts. All living things return to the homes they miss. It's like recovering from a battle. Everything returns, changes, and repeats. That's the natural order of things, isn't it? The stars move in cycles, and the seasons do too.
"Yes. The sixty-year cycle is the same."
That fairy responded as if she had understood the words I never spoke aloud. This time, she looked sad.
I played with that fairy a great deal. She suddenly appeared one day and said she wanted to be friends with everyone. Well, that is not so unusual in nature. For example, when a volcano erupts spectacularly, the distribution of the fairies living there can change greatly overnight. You could say it is because nature's composition changed, or you could say the fairies changed nature's composition. To be honest, even I, a fairy, do not know which is the cause and which is the effect.
"But that alone... won't bring you any closer to humans."
Did that fairy want to become human? I had never even considered something like that. Becoming human would only be inconvenient.
Fairies are spirits. They're spiritual beings. Youkai are the same, and I think gods are too. Humans seem to think the spirit is a kind of illusion created by the nervous system, but they're completely wrong. Humans only value physical things, and because of that, they've lost sight of what living really means. The spirit is the true body. Why don't humans understand that? No, humans probably do understand how important the spirit is. That is why they work so desperately to create all sorts of things, to learn things, and to set things in motion. But they miss the point so badly that they only ever reach for the physical thing they can see. They cannot find what they really want. I feel sorry for them.
"Incidents just aren't happening, are they?"
When she said that, I felt like I finally understood what she meant. I remember hearing that incidents were originally something like duels between humans and youkai. Unless there is a suitable human, incidents don't happen. If someone caused an incident that couldn't be resolved, then it probably wouldn't be an incident...
"It would surely become an irreversible transformation."
I think she's right. If something can't return to how it was... then it isn't natural. But that's strange. There are no humans, but it still isn't natural. What does that mean? I always thought humans were far fewer than fairies, not very impressive, and lately, they haven't had much of a presence at all. But could they still be around? I wanted her to tell me more about that.
But she was already gone.
Come to think of it, why was I talking so much? There's no point in doing that. I'm not even interested in it. Besides, I'm bored of it now.
[The report ends here.]
Wordsmith No. 25
She looks like Yukari Yakumo, acts like Yukari Yakumo, and thus, she is Yukari Yakumo. She is both a Wordsmith remnant and the concept of Yukari Yakumo.
She was the payload that the stage below had to carry all its life. At the same time, she was the propulsion that spent her entire existence carrying the stage above. All that remains to her now are empty tanks and scorched engines.
A Wordsmith abandoned in a local universe is expected to naturally decompose and relinquish its niche.

Elven Schema
The Spread Shot of Yukari Yakumo, the 25th remnant of the plan (a Touhou LW original). She verifies the fundamental design of Gensokyo and observes fairy behavior.
Gensokyo can be described as a land inhabited by fairies. In terms of sheer numbers, maybe the fuzzy little orb-like elemental spirits might outnumber them, but during an incident, it is the fairies who steal the show. They appear in vast numbers, drawn in by the excitement of it all.
They love a good festival and can't resist joining in. In place of a packed lunch, they often bring along power-up items. However, they are fickle and easily influenced, and once the incident ends, they disperse just as quickly.

The Focus Shot of Yukari Yakumo, the 25th remnant of the plan (a Touhou LW original). She verifies the fundamental requirements of Gensokyo and observes fairy behavior.
Though fairies look like young children, they are likely far older than any human. Under normal conditions, even if they reach a state comparable to human death, they recover after a brief rest and resume activity the following day as if nothing happened.
As long as the natural phenomena they embody continue to exist, so do they. Nature is both constant and ever-changing, and that duality defines the existence of fairies.
In other words, no matter how many fairies are shot down, there is little cause for concern.

Between Spirit and Human
A Spell Card of Yukari Yakumo, the 25th remnant of the plan (a Touhou LW original). She confirms the existence of fairies.
It is hypothesized elemental spirits may be immature forms of fairies, and there may even be cases where fairies ascend to become gods. However, fairies show no real interest in such matters, making it difficult to gather sufficient observational data within a human lifespan, preventing validation of this theory.
Even when asked directly, fairies offer only idle chatter, making it impossible to discern truth from lies. However, if their temperament could be measured with greater precision, this uncertainty may one day be resolved.

Impressionable Incarnation of Nature
A Spell Card of Yukari Yakumo, the 25th remnant of the plan (a Touhou LW original). She confirms the existence of fairies.
It is self-evident that fairies are spiritual lifeforms. But what, then, is a spirit? In Paul Weiss's thought experiment, he posits that something is lost when a chick embryo is homogenized. That thing could be the spirit. If the physical matter itself remains the same, then the difference must be something non-material: the spirit.
Yet it is also possible to say that what was lost was information. The arrangement and state of the matter, or in other words, its information was destroyed.
Does that mean the spirit is, in some sense, information?

The Last Word of Yukari Yakumo, the 25th remnant of the plan (a Touhou LW original). She confirms the existence of fairies.
Fairies are insignificant beings. They are everywhere, and there is no shortage of them. Carefree and mischievous, they act without restraint. No one offers them gratitude, and even if they did, it would mean nothing to them.
That is just how nature is. It soothes, it entertains, and then, without warning, it turns and bares its fangs, only to fade away soon after.
Humanity has yet to discover the proper way to coexist with them. Or perhaps... it has forgotten how.

Skills
Skill: Maid Dress-Up
It might've been the Scarlet Devil Mansion that introduced maid culture to Gensokyo. Ever since, fairy maids have been showing up everywhere.
Skill: Bunny Dress-Up
It never quite caught on like maid dress-up did. Though at Eientei, it's probably still popular.
Skill: Zombie Dress-Up
It's probably big in the Underworld. Zombies are pretty fun!
