Character Information

Temperament: Yamikumo
Yamikumo (a Touhou LW original) refers to dark clouds and recklessness. This is the temperament of Shion, who wants nothing more than to end the troublesome Lost Word Incident and return to her days of misfortune. Having turned her back on being a poverty god, contrary to her original nature, Shion has started to produce the temperament of wealth. In other words, she has been imbued with Earth Phase, which creates Metal Phase. The encompassing and regenerative Earth Phase resists Fire Phase, because fire produces earth, but it is weak to Wood Phase, because wood parts earth. The strong and kind Wood Phase resists Water Phase, because water nourishes wood, but it is weak to Metal Phase, because metal carves wood. The cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence resists the alluring and arrogant Sun Essence, but it is weak to the diverse and uncooperative Star Essence.
Ability/Backstory: Capable of making people unlucky, including herself (Lost)
The ability of Shion Yorigami, who has almost reached the end (a Touhou LW original). Shion completely lost this ability due to a Lost Word. She is currently regaining it little by little, though not through restoring or replicating her old ability, but with a newly constructed original ability that formed a core to build upon. She has continued to travel across worlds to try and end the Lost Word Incident. "I won't stand for this!" Shion was furious. A poverty god is meant to be the ultimate have-not. There should be nothing you could take from her. And yet she had been stolen from! The Lost Word Incident had taken her poverty-stricken lifestyle, the weeds she used to eat, and the celestial she so admired! Is limitless debt theoretically possible? It was once thought that while temperature had no upper limit, it did have a lower one: absolute zero. I.e., -459.67°F. No heat can be stolen from an object at absolute zero. It was eventually learned that temperature also has an upper limit: the Planck temperature. This was the temperature of the universe at the instant of the Big Bang, when energy was at its densest. In the same way, if debt is interpreted as negative wealth, then it must have a limit. So then, what exactly happened to Shion Yorigami's debt when the Lost Word Incident struck? It ballooned as a result of her being forced to take on the debt of Shions from other worlds. That may sound like a joke, but it's not. Even if you reach the debt limit on the real-number axis, it's still possible to "borrow" from the imaginary-number axis. This is based on brane cosmology, a god-slaying scientific theory. It really does sound like a joke, but this dark, bottomless pit of infinitely layered debt points to a single truth: the existence of a world where time can be randomly accessed. In other words, a multiverse built upon the theory of loop quantum gravity. Driven to the extreme―no, beyond the limits of poverty, Shion was forced to borrow from neighboring worlds. Cash flowed in from every possibility, from every fate, weaving together a tangled network of debt. Trapped in this network, linear time ceased to exist (after all, this is loop quantum gravity we're talking about). Shion staggered around aimlessly in a real-life random walk. All possibilities are bound together, leaving no such thing as an impossible past. And yet, not all possible pasts can exist at once. That mysterious ancient gods and forgotten ages have been dredged up shows just how immense the debt forced upon Shion by the Lost Word Incident really was. She was even made to borrow from banks, which she ordinarily avoided at all costs... But could these gods truly have existed? Okina Matara, playing the role of Shiva. Shiki Eiki, Yamaxanadu, playing the role of Yama. Shou Toramaru, playing the role of Kubera. Kanako Yasaka, Suwako Moriya, and Parsee Mizuhashi, playing the roles of the three Nagaraja. And finally, Shion and Joon Yorigami, playing the sisters Alakshmi and Lakshmi. "I don't care what else I lose. But if I lost my sister, I would become wealthy. I would become happy. And I would lose my identity." Durgastra In answer to Shion's blazing rage, a goddess who claimed to be an old acquaintance lent her a weapon: the magic item, Durgastra. Durgastra was one of the many treasures belonging to that goddess that were bestowed upon her by the other gods. It's powerful enough to destroy civilizations, and its value is astronomical. And yet, with Shion's ability to squander wealth, its power may well end up spent. The compensation demanded when she returns it will no doubt be beyond imagination. It is the ultimate poverty weapon, capable of accumulating limitless debt. The flames that rise from items of value set alight by this weapon could not be any more ominous. But they do brighten Shion's surroundings.

Attacks

The Biggest Loser

The Spread Shot of Shion Yorigami, who has almost reached the end (a Touhou LW original). She has nothing left to lose in this attack. Taking out loans, short selling, margin trading... There are plenty of ways to squander wealth that doesn't exist. In other words, there is no limit to debt. Therefore, there's no limit to misfortune. However, Shion Yorigami wasn't convinced that was true.

Treasure Burned to Ashes

The Focus Shot of Shion Yorigami, who has almost reached the end (a Touhou LW original). She loses everything she has in this attack. "Just as misfortune has no limit, once someone slides into poverty, there's no limit to how far they can fall. But that's all hypothetical. After all, the building blocks of this world are finite. What if they weren't, you say? Do you really think a couple of infinities would be enough to put me in the black? Don't underestimate poverty."

Darkness: Befitting Poverty

A Spell Card of Shion Yorigami, who has almost reached the end (a Touhou LW original). An attack embodying her chronic poverty. Poverty was a permanent feature in Shion's life. As long as she only had to deal with a little misfortune each day, she would be fine. ...That's a lie. Misfortune is universally hated. Shion never wanted to end up like this. But she wanted to maintain a level of poverty that kept her motivated to escape it. She didn't need that feeling to be understood. It was hers, and hers alone.

Darkness: Unbefitting Good Fortune

A Spell Card of Shion Yorigami, who has almost reached the end (a Touhou LW original). She gets impossibly lucky in this attack. Shion knew all too well that get-rich-quick schemes and ill-gotten gains exacerbated misfortune. Like how a sudden change in temperature can shatter hard metal, a life of constant misfortune is easier to endure than one where fleeting wealth occasionally befalls you. Such brief tastes of plenty make the following hunger feel that much more intense. To someone trapped in a long life of misfortune, nothing is more torturous than a sudden stroke of temporary fortune. Had Shion never known of paradise, she would never have longed for it so deeply.

Lowly Sisters' Modest Happiness

The Last Word of Shion Yorigami, who has almost reached the end (a Touhou LW original). The Most-Despicable and Disastrous Sisters attack. "Joon really is the most disastrous little sister. She fills my life with even more misfortune. She drags me into her schemes. She uses me in her selfish plots. She shows me up with her flashy appearance. She rubs her passive income in my face. I live off her scraps. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil. You know, I don't think I've ever won an argument against her. Without her around, I'd probably be happy. But then I wouldn't be a poverty god... or her big sister. Go ahead, Joon, make me as miserable as you like. Show the whole world that we're the Most-Despicable and Disastrous Sisters."
