I'm Suwa, short for Suwako Moriya! But... what's this? Was I spirited away?! Kana and little Sanae are waiting for me!
Introduction
Hello? Kana? I'll be back by dinner, so keep an eye on Sanae, OK? She's not a baby anymore, so I'm sure she'll be fine... but she's still a bit reckless sometimes, y'know? Not that there's anything wrong with being full of life! Anyway, I'm counting on you! ...All right, time to gather some followers. Wait... Where am I? And who are you?! Suwa? Yes, that's me, Suwako Moriya... But, um, you better send me home right now, or we're gonna have a problem. MC5. As in, incoming Major Curse in 5 seconds!
Purple Heart
You're so unreliable!
Blue Heart
No cap? On god? What are you even saying? That's not real slang.
Green Heart
Saying all girls who dress flashy are dumb is just a stereotype. I'm actually pretty smart, y'know? I made this PHS using metallurgy, and I'm great with precision tech… Wait, you know what a computer is, right?
Orange Heart
I heard people make games on computers, and I wanna try it too. I love fun stuff like that. Plus, I could play it with Kana, and who knows, it might work as a toy for Sanae.
Pink Heart
Whoa, just 'cause you know a bit about computers doesn't mean you get to act all high and mighty. I can figure this out just fine! ...Wait, what? Why isn't this part working?! Ughhh... OK, I give up―help me, please!
Winter
The air, the earth... everything's so calm. Gensokyo's winter is really nice. I love it. ...Hey, why are you staring at me? You look super sketchy!
Archaic humans? The extinction of current humans? Gods getting downgraded into neo-humans? Yeah... I have no idea what you're talking about. But I do understand why fate abandoned me...
Enhancement
The cool god just got even cooler! But I guess someone like you wouldn't get it.
Return
Battle of bullets? I think I saw something like that at the arcade.
Home 1
Back in the day, shrine maidens and gods were always dressed in loose, oversized outfits... look, there's one right there! What? That's a yamanba?
Home 2
Shrine maidens and gods used to go around wearing outfits like this! I mean, I've only seen these clothes in magazines or on TV, but still!
Home 3
People think gods are old-fashioned, but that's not true. Back in the day, Kana and I were trend setters. So there's nothing wrong with me wearing something like this!
Reaction 1
Gensokyo? I think I heard Kana talk about it before.
Reaction 2
Ever heard of photo booths? You can print photo stickers there. I think they've got them in those huge malls.
Reaction 3
All right, fine. You can lie on my lap like Sanae does... Eep! You're so heavy!
Task
A task? Fine, I'll help you out.
Task Complete
Just do this, and done! Told you it was easy!
Mail
Oh hey, an email. Gotta access the server...
Errand Finished
The errand girls are back? You mean my worshippers? We gotta go thank them... obviously!

Character Information
Temperament: Bakuu
Bakuu (a Touhou LW original) refers to the rainy season and the rain that falls when the wheat is ready to harvest. This is an apt temperament for Suwako, who blesses the crops as a god of the mountain. Suwako is endowed with Earth Phase, as she creates earthiness, and Moon Essence, since she adapts to her environment by changing her appearance.
The encompassing and regenerative Earth Phase resists Fire Phase, because fire produces earth, but it is weak to Wood Phase, because wood parts earth.
The cooperative and indecisive Moon Essence resists the alluring and arrogant Sun Essence, but it is weak to the diverse and uncooperative Star Essence.
Ability/Backstory: Capable of creating earthiness (Berserk)
The ability of Suwako Moriya (W2) from Memory Fragment 5 (a Touhou LW original). The path that this Suwako has walked is so unusual that it is still a mystery how exactly she differs from other Suwakos.
Why does this Memory Fragment exist? It is believed that Suwako Moriya is a god who has existed since the Jomon era (14,000-1000 BC) or maybe even before that. It's possible that she came into being as a fearsome manifestation of Mother Nature before the concept of gods was defined and they became distinguishable from spirits.
When did humans first feel fear, helplessness, or gratitude? Perhaps it was when they experienced starvation, were attacked by animals, or suffered from disease or injury. Gods appeared in response to these feelings. They appeared when humans began to pray. Suwako has lived through many ages, so why were her memories of the late 20th century singled out and recorded? It was an interesting time, but that can't be the only reason.
The following is an excerpt of an unresolved report recorded on a handheld device with a small screen and many buttons.
"Wait, Kana."
"What is it, Suwa?"
"Sorry, there's something else I wanted to ask."
Having almost forgotten, Suwako stopped Kanako from hanging up and pressed the phone back against her ear. The age of gods had long since ended. Some gods used to claim that it hadn't, but they have all disappeared, leaving Suwako and Kanako behind. They can deny it no longer―the age of gods has ended. Apparently, this is because a philosopher, far to the west, declared that god is dead. However, this was always going to happen eventually. Just like how children will one day leave the nest, humans seek independence from their gods. Gods may think humans are still too green and a danger to themselves, but that is irrelevant. Before they can walk, they must stand on their own two feet.
"Ummm... How's Sanae doing? Any problems?"
"No. She's having a nap, tired from playing all day. She's so full of energy. She grows up so quickly that soon, we won't be able to keep up. She has a bright future ahead of her... Is that what you wanted to ask?"
"Yes? No. Kinda..."
"Hm?"
Suwako knew she wasn't making sense. But she was so full of doubts that she didn't know what to say. Thankfully, Kanako was a patient listener.
"Ummm..."
It was a hard topic to breach. They were living in an age of spiritual decline where gods disappeared one after the other. It was a real and pressing problem. But they had also found an irreplaceable joy. As long as they had that, Suwako couldn't bring herself to hate this modern age. In fact, she doubted it could ever be better. It felt like her long life had finally been given a purpose. But to preserve that joy, she had to ask...
"...Does Gensokyo really exist?"
"..."
Kanako fell silent. To Suwako, it felt like an age before she spoke again. She knew that Kanako had been researching Gensokyo, but she didn't know why. Suwako chose to trust her instincts, and if she was right...
"Yes, it exists. At least, it should. I haven't found it yet."
"Doesn't that mean it might not exist?"
"Well..."
Kanako fell silent again, leaving Suwako confused. She was sure that Kanako would insist that Gensokyo existed even if she couldn't find it.
"It's complicated. Gensokyo exists. But it might be more accurate to say that it existed."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm not sure. It might not exist anymore, or maybe it's not what I thought it was..."
"You mean we'll only find out once we get there?"
"I guess."
Kanako was researching Gensokyo so that one day, they could move there. If things stayed as they were, all the gods would disappear due to a lack of faith, including Kanako and Suwako. But they didn't know what would happen to Sanae. She could probably keep living as a human, but is that what she'd want? They couldn't ask her. She was still too young.
"All right... We'll put a pin in this until Sanae grows up."
"I promise I won't do anything before then, Suwa."
They sealed their pact over the phone―a pact to one day betray all their shrine followers, including Sanae's family. While they might not have as many followers now as they had in the past, they still thought of them as their children. And they were planning to abandon them—every single one.
This made them feel a little guilty, but it also awoke another emotion, one they had almost forgotten. Excitement. It reminded them of the smell of iron, of when they fought over a kingdom. This was another battle. A battle for survival. Suwako mused that the prophecy about the great leader who would destroy the world might have been referring to her.
[The report ends here.]

Suwatch Found by the Lake!
The Spread Shot of Suwako Moriya (W2) from Memory Fragment 5 (a Touhou LW original). She attacks while playing a handheld electronic game that was all the rage in Suwa.
Gods have started to vanish. It was always going to happen eventually. Apparently, there are still many people who strongly believe in gods, but that's on a global scale. Who knows how many still believe in the native gods and local deities?

PHS (Source of Minor Metals)
The Focus Shot of Suwako Moriya (W2) from Memory Fragment 5 (a Touhou LW original). She attacks with a handy little machine that everyone used, even in Suwa.
So, does that mean humans don't believe in anything anymore? Not exactly. Humans can't seem to function without some kind of spiritual crutch. When the girls called "yamanba" were shown on TV, people laughed at them, but others respected and feared them as trendsetters. While some felt they personified cultural and generational differences, others felt a sense of camaraderie. They left an undeniable impact on society. To Suwako, they looked just like the precursors to shrine maidens that existed long ago.

Native God: Ancient God With a CRT Screen
A Spell Card of Suwako Moriya (W2) from Memory Fragment 5 (a Touhou LW original). An attack based on a big crossing she saw on TV.
That is why, despite looking like a child, Suwako decided to copy the city fashion trends. It was also an attempt to reinvent herself as a god. It is often thought that gods are unchanging―that they are the same now as they were long ago. However, nowadays, it is not unusual to find Halloween and Christmas parties held for children at shrines. Shrines and gods have always incorporated aspects of other cultures and faiths. It would be awfully strange if they suddenly stopped now.

Spring Sign: Backstreet God
A Spell Card of Suwako Moriya (W2) from Memory Fragment 5 (a Touhou LW original). An attack based on the fashionable city backstreets she saw on TV.
Suwako decided to dress up and wander around Suwa, letting people see her. She would greet passersby on her morning and evening walks and share gossip. If adults were holding a party, she would sneak in with a glass of orange juice. Everyone would dote on her, and surprisingly, not once did she get in trouble.
You may question whether it's OK for a god to live like that. But it's their duty to live and play with humans. Not to mention that there isn't much else for them to do nowadays, since humans can practically do anything by themselves.

Doomsday - Curse God on the Loose
The Last Word of Suwako Moriya (W2) from Memory Fragment 5 (a Touhou LW original). An attack based on the doomsday panic at the end of the 20th century.
"Sanae's parents always used to thank us for watching over her. They thought we were children who lived near the shrine. Everyone thought that. We have watched over Sanae from when she was a baby, and it won't be long before she becomes an adult. We never change, but nobody notices. They don't realize that we're the same kids they saw before. Except for Sanae..."
