Expo Photographer

Story
The New Lunar Capital Expo is a huge festival-like event that fills the hearts of everyone in Gensokyo with excitement and curiosity. The attendees are brimming with passion and the event brings out the best in everyone involved―even some people who ordinarily shy away from such crowded affairs. It's a ton of fun, but to be honest, it can also be a little overwhelming! Rocking up to the expo with her trusty camera was none other than Aya Shameimaru. Naturally, she was here to conduct interviews for an article― What do you mean that's not what she was doing? So what WAS she doing?! ...Well, there's only one way to find out. Let's take a look at what Aya got up to at the New Lunar Capital Expo!

Amid all the colorfully dressed attendees, Aya arrived wearing a familiar outfit. Oh, she's probably here to interview Gensokyo's musicians for a music edition of― ...No? Well, maybe she's come to attend a press briefing― ...What do you mean no again?! Aya headed straight for the expo's cosplay area, where taking photos of the many incredible cosplayers was permitted. She was usually content taking photos of autumn scenery, but something had drawn her here. What could it be...? "Miss Cirno, Miss Dai! You both look incredible today!" "O-Oh... thanks!" "Hehe. Me and Dai made these cool outfits together, you know?!" Aya had a wonderful time chatting with the cosplayers about their outfits and the things they were all passionate about. For her, this was a rare opportunity and she wasn't about to let it slide. Especially because the cosplay area was filling up fast and it was getting too loud to hear yourself think, let alone chat with people!

Aya asked Cirno and Dai if she could take photos of them together and then individually. Only after the fairies had agreed did she point her camera toward them. Asking for permission like that is considered good manners among photographers. ...Hm? Does Aya ALWAYS ask for permission? Yes... probably. If you're lucky, at a big event like this, you might run into famous cosplayers with outfits of unmatched quality. And it seems lady luck was smiling down on Aya today. "It can't be... It IS!" she exclaimed as she spotted the charismatic and destructive cosplaying sisters, Remilia and Flandre Scarlet! It was standard practice to ask people for permission to take and post pictures, and for their contact details. However, sometimes it was easier―perhaps even more polite―not to bother people with questions and to, instead, just take pictures. At least, according to Aya, that is. Getting to talk to a bunch of people while taking photos of them and becoming friends made events like this one extra fun for Aya. And all the likes she gets on the photos she posts are the icing on the cake!

Taking photos wasn't the only source of fun for Aya at the expo. She also had a blast seeing her friends' outfits and talking to people in the break area. Aya looked around at all the amazing cosplayers she'd photographed as they chatted away. "Hey, Cirno. Hey, Dai. So those are the outfits you made, huh? They're great!" "Thanks. You look adorable in yours, Medicine." Aya stole a few words with the Yorigami sisters, who were simply fascinated by everyone's outfits. Aya showed them a few of her photos, but one in particular took their breath away. "Wow, those outfits are stunning. No wonder the Scarlet sisters are so popular," remarked Joon. "You said it. Even all the little accessories are perfect..." replied Shion, before dropping her gaze to the floor. "There's no way I could look that good in a photo," she said with a labored sigh. "Maybe if we worked together―" started Joon, but she was interrupted by the sound of Aya's camera shutter.

"What are you talking about, Shion?!" smiled Aya as she showed the sisters the photo she'd just taken. "This shot looks just as good as any I've taken!" Shion's cheeks turned bright red as she stuttered, "Y-You think...?" Joon was taken aback by Aya's photo, but her look of shock was quickly replaced by a giant grin. "I like taking pictures of people posing with a smile as much as the next tengu photographer, but I also love candid shots like this one. You know, ones that capture genuine emotions," said Aya. Aya also found emotions in the autumn photos she took and found great joy in capturing nature's most precious moments. But there were plenty of things she could only capture at events like this one. Peering through her camera lens at Shion and Joon, who were now both smiling, Aya thought about how glad she was to be at the New Lunar Capital Expo.
