Karaoke for the Soul

Mentioned Characters: Yuugi, Shion, Parsee, Yamame
Story
"I'm in the mood for karaoke!" Parsee blinked in surprise at Yamame Kurodani's sudden announcement. Apparently, Yuugi had asked her to perform a song in front of everyone sometime soon, so Yamame figured karaoke would double as practice for it.

A few days later, Parsee Mizuhashi and Shion Yorigami found themselves at the grand banquet hall of the hot spring resort in the Underworld. The tables overflowed with extravagant food, but what had their attention was Yamame, standing on the tiny stage with a mic in hand, pouring her soul into song. Everyone was dressed casually in yukata or pajamas, layered with colorful haori that added a splash of cheer.

The reason they'd managed to rent out the whole hall was simple. Shion had been living there for a while, and soon enough, the resort lost all its customers. That left the place empty enough for Yamame and Parsee to grab it at a bargain. "It's all thanks to me…!" bragged Shion, stuffing food into her mouth as fast as she could. Yamame and Parsee covered her share of the meal. They weren't happy about it, but it was only fair after the bargain she'd landed them.

Hidden Springs Stamp Rally Yamame kept singing her heart out. It might've just been the good food, but Shion was clapping along and enthusiastically cheering her on. Parsee, on the other hand, shook the tambourine that Yamame had shoved into her hands in a bored, halfhearted rhythm, mumbling about how jealous she was. Yet the fact that she kept playing it at all spoke to her oddly earnest side, helping Yamame practice in her own, reluctant way. "Alright, your turn now!" said Yamame as she passed the mic to the two of them when she was finally done singing.

Shion went first, hopping onto the tiny stage. She kicked things off with a song about money, screaming "I wanna be rich!" with all her might. She wasn't satisfied after singing once, so she sang it three times over. Then came Parsee. Too shy to go solo, she stalled until Yamame pulled her into a duet. With Yamame backing her up, Parsee finally let go of her apprehensions and sang her heart out, her voice echoing through the banquet hall. Yamame was blown away by the beauty of her voice and couldn't resist teasing her, which only left Parsee blushing and sulking in embarrassment. Finally, Shion jumped back in, and the three of them sang together with full enthusiasm. Yamame knew this wasn't exactly practice anymore, but what did it matter? It was fun, and thanks to them, she felt revved up for the real performance. She continued singing with gratitude for her friends.
