Mentioned Characters: Joon, Shion
Story
Shion Yorigami is the elder of the two Yorigami sisters, and a poverty god so fearsome that even crying children fall silent. She exudes an aura of misfortune that causes her and the people around her to suffer terrible luck. Usually weak-willed and timid, her little sister Joon pushes her around, but once Shion is pushed over the edge, not even her own sister is spared her wrath. Her favorite food is grilled miso on rice. In the 80th provisional Gensokyo, she is the most despicable and disastrous weapon of last resort. However, the Shion that arrived there was only one of the infinite Shions that existed in the L80 universe cluster. She was the last remaining survivor in one of the L80 worlds that ended. Those who gather in the 80th provisional Gensokyo are all from different worlds, but they are united in their search for a way to restore not only the worlds that have been lost, but also the worlds that will inevitably disappear in the future. They cannot resume their old lives until they achieve this.

[Part 1 of an unresolved investigation into a lost world] "Aren't you sick of living in such a lousy apartment, Shion?! I know I am!" "Why are you asking me that, Joon? ...It's not like we can do anything about it. We're high schoolers." It might be old and dilapidated, but considering their age, Shion thought they did pretty well to get an apartment at all. "No, I can't live another day here. We need more money." Joon seemed to have forgotten that their rent only got paid each month thanks to Shion working part-time at a convenience store. "Uhh... I hope you're not planning anything illegal. We have to obey the law." "Seriously, Shion? Since when did you become such a goody-goody?" "I'm not." Shion was proud of her little sister. She's really smart, but she can be a bit short-sighted. Shion felt it was her responsibility to try and correct that. "If we get caught, we'll get kicked out of school, and you know what happens to kids who don't go to school." "I guess..." Regardless of the world you live in, to get rich, you need to be smart. It's a game, a competition of your smarts against everyone else's. But if you're found lacking, your very life will be converted into someone else's paycheck. And such a life isn't worth very much. Shion desperately wanted to avoid that fate.

[Part 2 of an unresolved investigation into a lost world] "As a pair of high schoolers with nothing to our name, this is the only way we'll make it big!" "How confident are you in your presentation skills, Joon? I've seen a few ads for these guys online, but do you really think they'll lend us money?" "Hmm, I'm sure it'll work out." "If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it..." Broadcast networks aren't in the business of giving out money for nothing. They're always looking for a return on their investments. So, naturally, they pay close attention to what the money is used for. Shion knew that if she were ever in a position to lend out money, she'd do the same. "Meh, it can't hurt to try!" "If you say so..." Some time later... "I did it, Shion! They said it sounded interesting, so they're going to fully fund my program!" "No way..." It didn't take long for Shion to realize what had happened. The network didn't say yes because of Joon's pitch but because of her charisma. They must've been searching for new personalities to use in their other programs. That would raise their overall viewership and lead to greater profits. Shion recognized Joon's talent, but she was still worried that it wouldn't turn out as well as Joon hoped.

[Part 3 of an unresolved investigation into a lost world] "I use this moisturizer all the time. It does everything you could ask for..." It didn't take long for Joon to make a name for herself as a celebrity schoolgirl entrepreneur. Strangely, the way she talked and acted seemed to change to fit her new lifestyle. Not a day would go by when Shion didn't see her face on some kind of advertisement, be it on TV, online, or on some billboard in town. But she began to see her less and less in real life. As twins, they had been together since birth, and Shion thought it would always stay that way. As Joon was enjoying her stardom, Shion was mopping floors and greeting people at the entrance to Yorigami Corporation. There were rumors going around the office building that the janitor was actually the CEO's sister, but nobody felt the need to actually ask her, let alone talk to her. The truth was that this was just a clever disguise. Shion worked as a completely different kind of janitor, cleaning up any threats to Yorigami Corporation. This mostly meant covering up scandals and escorting people off the premises before they caused a scene. It was easy work, and she definitely wasn't doing anything illegal. Thanks to her efforts, Yorigami Corporation quickly grew in size and influence without having to rely on Joon's managerial skills (or lack thereof). Each night, after completing her secret tasks, she'd return exhausted to her shabby apartment―the apartment Joon would not be coming back to. She'd eat some instant noodles before collapsing into bed, then, the next morning, she'd go to school.

[Part 4 of an unresolved investigation into a lost world] "Hey, Shion. Long time no see. We're twins, so it's kinda crazy how we hardly ever see each other lately... I've gotten used to it, though." "Yeah, I never would've imagined any of this happening a few months ago. 'Cause that's all it's been. All this happened in a single season, and you say you've gotten used to it..." They were standing on the top floor of a skyscraper overlooking the entire city. They had the entire floor to themselves. It was empty except for them and a single chair. There wasn't even a desk because Joon didn't need to do any work. "This view is the best present you could've given me. It's like―" "Then it's about time I took it back." "Let me finish." Shion had had enough, and she was not going to let Joon steer the conversation again. Before long, the high-class office building became the stage for a fierce sisterly fight. It only lasted a few minutes, but that was enough to ruin Yorigami Corporation. By some strange coincidence, multiple news outlets, supplied with info from Yorigami Corporation's trading partners, chose this time to release stories about the company's shady business practices, completely tanking their national and international reputation. Come morning, Joon was forced to sell the office to cover the damages, and the sisters walked back to their cheap, run-down home. "Now we can live as normal again." "I really underestimated you, Shion..." The end.
