Miner Break

Mentioned Characters: Megumu, Momoyo
Story
Megumu Iizunamaru is a Great Tengu, one of the higher-ups in tengu society. Having taken an interest in dragon gems, she commissioned her good friend Momoyo to do some mining in the Youkai Mountain's Rainbow Dragon Cave. In return, Momoyo could keep some of the gems she found.

Momoyo Himemushi is an oomukade, a giant centipede youkai that is often despised for its grotesque form. Oomukade are also feared because of their tremendous, dragon-slaying power. Momoyo was approached by her good friend Megumu, who offered her a mining job in the Rainbow Dragon Cave. She wouldn't get to eat any dragons, but she would be paid in dragon gems, which was good enough for her.

Since then, Momoyo spent most of her time mining for dragon gems in the Rainbow Dragon Cave. However, on this particular day, she wasn't having much luck. She sighed, looking down at her empty basket. Her melancholic moment was interrupted by the sound of footsteps. It was Megumu, carrying a stack of boxes. "Here, I brought you a snack."

"A snack?" Momoyo repeated, looking Megumu up and down. "Not me. These." Megumu opened the top box. It was full of onigiri. "Awww!" "Don't be like that. I made them myself, so be grateful and eat them." Disappointed, Momoyo turned up her nose at the not-very-dragon-like snack offered to her. But then... her stomach rumbled.

Momoyo relented and split the onigiri with Megumu, telling herself that she wouldn't get much mining done on an empty stomach. They were delicious. When Momoyo shared her honest appraisal with the Great Tengu, Megumu's face lit up in a broad, self-satisfied grin. "It's kind of a shame, really. If they were bad, I was gonna eat you instead." "Then I suppose I'll have to keep you full with plenty more yummy snacks from now on." Their back-and-forth continued as they happily chowed down on Megumu's homemade onigiri, and before long, all the boxes were empty.
