Minoriko Aki, the god of harvests, seemed as bright and cheerful as ever, but her situation was dire. Some foreign gods were trying to take over the Youkai Mountain. And if no one stopped them, they might even conquer all of Gensokyo. It was a crisis of faith―faith in Minoriko. What's worse is that these gods of the new shrine were also rumored to have the power to provide bountiful harvests.

Prolonged Incident A Prolonged Incident is an incident that will not end, and has lasted longer than it should have. The Bill for the Naming of Duels, from which the Spell Card Rules are derived, places clear restrictions on duels between humans and youkai. This is supposed to ensure that when humans set out to resolve an incident, they are destined to succeed. However, for this to happen, the humans must be able to beat the youkai in battles of bullets.

Moriya Shrine's Prolonged Great Migration When Moriya Shrine moved to Gensokyo, it caused a lot of trouble for all the other gods. Before then, the only shrine in Gensokyo was Hakurei Shrine, so people practiced their faith in a more traditional way, closer to animism. Of course, this does not mean it was crude or artless. It was a simpler kind of faith, not belonging to any specific place or doctrine. You could also call it the original, purest kind of faith since it was not influenced by any political or theological agenda. For gods, this meant that while the amount of faith they received was highly variable, it was always of the highest quality. The appearance of the Moriya gods threw a wrench in this, so it makes sense that it might take a long time for them to resolve their differences.

EX Beings (Also known as Extended Beings) If the mountain gods stood up to Moriya Shrine and truly tried to stop them, the mountain could have descended into all-out war. However, this didn't happen because the mountain gods, individually, aren't very strong. The carefree and somewhat naive gods of Gensokyo could never be that powerful, right?

As the god of agriculture and bountiful harvests, Minoriko Aki should be a highly influential god who determines whether or not the people of the Human Village have food to put on the table. And yet she has no shrines dedicated to her. This is probably because the way faith is practiced in Gensokyo is more naturalistic, hearkening back to an older time. There might also be other gods, perhaps even famous and powerful ones, who perform a similar role to Minoriko. Of course, in divine society, who handles what isn't necessarily determined by who has the most experience. Perhaps they take turns dealing with issues as they come up, and it might simply be that when Moriya Shrine arrived, it was Minoriko's turn to handle it.
