Red & Scarlet

Mentioned Characters: Reimu, Remilia, Aya
Story
This Reimu Hakurei is the Hakurei shrine maiden from the world of music festivals. After dealing with one Lost Word Incident after another, she learned that holding music festivals is the perfect way to prepare for incident-resolving. Living in a world where whoever has the stronger music wins, she has a deep understanding of music. Rather than relying on technical knowledge, she's a natural-born genius who can excite a crowd simply by playing on instinct.

This Remilia Scarlet is the Scarlet Devil from the world of music festivals. She's one of two singers in the band Scarlet Devil Mansion and also serves as its leader. As a vampire, she's vulnerable to sunlight, so she truly shines in dim underground music clubs. Her dream is to one day flood the world with Scarlet Devil Mansion's crimson music. Oh, and her singing voice is absolutely adorable.

"You want to interview me?" "I've always written newspapers, but now I'm thinking of making a music magazine!" exclaimed Aya Shameimaru breathlessly as she rushed up to Reimu Hakurei after a performance. "I'm interviewing people for an article called 'Gensokyo's Hottest Music Acts!' So... do you mind answering a few questions?" "Go interview Scarlet Devil Mansion or something. Bye." "Ayayaya?! But you're so hot right now! Are you sure about this?! If you turn me down, the magazine's gonna be dominated by the Scarlet Devil Mansion youkai!" "Hrrm, I don't like the sound of that." And so, Reimu agreed to give Aya an interview―completely unaware that she'd just fallen into Aya's carefully laid trap.

"You want to interview me?" "Uh-huh! I'm interviewing people for an article called 'Gensokyo's Hottest Vocalists!' We'd love to feature you, Miss Remilia!" "And you're the one conducting the interview?" "That's right! We'll also be doing a photoshoot at a music club." "Hmm... pass. As you can see, I'm busy enjoying an elegant afternoon in my mansion." "Ayayaya?! But you're so hot right now! Are you sure about this?! If you turn me down, the magazine's gonna be dominated by photos of the Hakurei Shrine girls!" "Well... I don't like the sound of that." And so, Remilia agreed to give Aya an interview―completely unaware of the fate that awaited her.

"Remilia?" "Reimu? What are YOU―" Remilia spun around mid-sentence. The vampire's ears had caught the faint click of a camera shutter. "Ayayaya... Busted." Standing by the music club entrance was Aya Shameimaru, camera in hand. "You better start explaining yourself right now!" "The truth is, I wanted you two to do a joint interview. You know, as the magazine's headline feature." "A joint interview? As if we'd ever agree to that!" "That's why I invited you separately!" Aya pouted for a moment before immediately bowing her head deeply. "If it's a no to the interview, then at least let me take some photos! I'll put you both on the cover." "Well... I guess a few photos would be OK." "The FRONT cover, yeah? In that case, you've got a deal," said Reimu, sounding rather pleased. The camera turned toward Remilia, and she flashed a bright smile. The debut issue, titled Red & Scarlet, featuring the two of them and on the cover, sold out across Gensokyo almost instantly.
