In a world where magical girls exist―a world shaped by the magic of the Witch of Scarlet Dreams―Remilia Scarlet is a monster who chose to become a magical girl in order to save those she loves. After thinking long and hard about what kind of appearance her younger sister, Flandre Scarlet, would find cute, she suppressed her embarrassment and chose her current outfit. Having crossed over into another world, she's been taken in by this world's Lady Remilia and is staying at the Scarlet Devil Mansion.

The Two Remilias One day at the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Koakuma politely knocked on the door to a room that had only recently stopped being used as a storage closet. "Lady Remilia? May I come in?" There were now two Remilias living in the mansion. One was the vampire Lady Remilia, the mansion's longtime mistress. The other was a self-proclaimed magical girl who had been brought there by a Seal Crystal. "What is it?" asked the magical girl Remilia, peeking out from the crack in the door. Koakuma had been sent there after a scolding by the mansion's mistress. She was caught between a rock and a hard place―only both the rock and the hard place were Remilias. Seeing the magical girl eyeing her warily, Koakuma plucked up the courage to speak. "Um... there's a monster we'd like you to defeat!"

"...A monster? Ask Sakuya to handle it." The magical girl Remilia answered Koakuma with one eye closed. It was a response befitting a Remilia. But Koakuma refused to back down. "Actually, Miss Sakuya told me to ask YOU, Lady Remilia." "She did?" As Koakuma nodded, this world's Sakuya and Remilia suddenly appeared behind her. "There's a monster rampaging through the mansion as we speak," said the mistress Remilia. "We need you and your magical girl powers." "The monster's here now?" "You're staying here free of charge, are you not? This is the least you could do." Watching her counterpart walk away after damaging her pride, the magical girl Remilia puffed out her cheeks in annoyance. "...Fine. Maybe I WILL take care of the monster." But before she took her first step, she heard a click.

"Hey! Patchy's taking pictures of me!" Standing just behind Sakuya and Koakuma were Patchouli Knowledge and Hong Meiling, both armed with cameras. "Lady Remilia... It's not what you think." "Yeah. We were just taking photos of the mansion. You know, to check for structural damage." "Structural damage?! What do a magician and a gatekeeper know about structural damage?!" "Well, what else do you think we were trying to photograph?" "Duh! My outfit." Both Patchouli and Meiling gulped. "Those were the guiltiest gulps I've ever heard!" "Fine, maybe we were taking photos of your outfit. But how could we resist?!" cried Meiling. "I'll deal with the monster," said Remilia. "But I refuse to be turned into your fashion model. Put the cameras away, now―" A tuneful exclamation interrupted Remilia's demand. "Where is she?! I wanna see magical girl Remilia!" "...Flan?!"

"The falling stars guided me here... I am magical girl Remilia Scarlet!" Some time later, in an open field just outside the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Remilia Scarlet wielded the power of the stars in battle. "Star Mist Power, charging up!" Every time Remilia shouted one of her signature lines, her audience―Flandre, Meiling, Patchouli, and Sakuya―erupted into cheers. Flandre in particular seemed absolutely captivated by the sight of her big sister fighting as a magical girl. "Light 'em up, Star Gungnir!" The monster fell to Remilia's ultimate attack. Rapid camera shutters punctuated a wild applause. "Hey! I said no pictures!" yelled Remilia. "But you look SO cool!" exclaimed Flandre. "R-Really?" Just like that, Remilia was won over by her little sister yet again. And with the monster slain, the mansion was safe for another day.
