Enoko Mitsugashira is a yamainu turned youkai who can manipulate traps. She's been living in the Forest of Magic and got caught up in a certain oni's schemes (an oni who used to be human) long before she became a youkai, but it was only after her transformation that she became a member of the Keiga Family. Narumi Yatadera is a magical jizou. Unlike Shiki Eiki, Yamaxanadu, who is a manifestation of the bodhisattva, Narumi is simply the statue of Jizou given life, kind of like a golem. However, she is also a magician specializing in life-manipulating magic.

Since they both live in the Forest of Magic, Enoko and Narumi often come across each other when they go out for walks. When this happens, they always stop and chat. Enoko likes to praise Narumi's cute hat, and Narumi compliments Enoko's fancy bear trap bracelets. One day, Enoko offered to lend Narumi her bear traps, but Narumi regretfully declined, saying they'd make praying super difficult. Maybe if Narumi could find a similar pair of bracelets that didn't impede her ability to put her hands together, they could wear bear trap bracelets together.

Back when Enoko was just an ordinary yamainu, she ate the flesh of a troublesome human and was eternally cursed for it. However, this did not directly cause her to become a youkai. This only happened much later after that human became an oni and Enoko met Marisa. It seems Enoko might be exceptionally long-lived.

Quite a few people live in the Forest of Magic, even though it's extremely hazardous due to the oppressive miasma caused by all the monstrous mushrooms growing there. People also regularly visit the forest to either play at Marisa's house (which is also her shop), participate in one of Alice's tea parties, or buy something from Kourindou. Then again, the forest probably wasn't as lively back when Enoko first started living there. If she hadn't become a youkai and instead perished as a yamainu, she wouldn't have had so many fun experiences and made so many friends.

"Hey, guys! Help me out!" Marisa came running past Narumi and Enoko, interrupting their chat. She was carrying a stack of magic books, which she had obviously stolen from the Scarlet Devil Mansion's library. It was obvious because Patchouli was hot on her heels, wheezing as she recited an incantation. Narumi and Enoko were shocked that Patchouli had actually followed Marisa this far for once, but then they looked at each other and nodded. "Let's catch Marisa!" They set off after the thieving magician, laughing all the while. It seems Enoko really enjoys her current life in the not-so-silent Forest of Magic.
