In Sakuya and Yukkuri Sakuya's world, Yukkuri Buddy Battles have spread far and wide, creating a world where everyone lives alongside their yukkuri. Each person is with their yukkuri from the moment they're born, and they grow up together. To them, yukkuri are lifelong partners. That goes for Sakuya, too. Her yukkuri is called Yukkuri Sakuya, or Yu-Sakuya for short.
"Yu."
That's the only sound a yukkuri makes. But for Sakuya and her yukkuri, it's more than enough. They do not need a vast vocabulary to understand each other. It's as if they can read each other's minds.
Sakuya Izayoi is Remilia's most-trusted maid, and is incredibly capable in her own right. Still, she chooses to devote herself to serving her mistress. Today, she set out on a shopping trip with Yu-Sakuya, gathering supplies for Remilia, Yu-Remi, and the others. She walked gracefully through the streets, while Yu-Sakuya bounced along beside her.
However, as they continued, Sakuya realized something. She came to a sudden stop.
"Wait. What was I supposed to buy again?"
"Meh. I'm sure I'll remember once I get inside."
With that, Sakuya took an optimistic first step into a department store that had been slowly reclaimed by nature. Yu-Sakuya followed right behind her. Together, they browsed the aisles, but no matter how long they searched, Sakuya simply couldn't recall what she'd come to buy.
"Well, guess we should just head home."
As she turned to leave, Yu-Sakuya cried out to her.
"Yuyu, yuyuyuuu!"
Suddenly, Sakuya remembered everything on her shopping list. Rather, Yu-Sakuya had reminded her. Just another benefit of being so in tune with each other. Even if one of them forgets something, the other always fills in the gaps.
With Yu-Sakuya at her side, Sakuya doesn't ever need to write anything down!
After picking up everything they needed, the two made one final stop at the deli section. They waited. And waited. About an hour later, a yukkuri employee finally appeared, slowly placing "50% Off!" stickers on the few remaining items.
That was the signal. In an instant, the other shoppers swarmed the shelves in a frenzy of bargain-fueled desire. But to Sakuya and Yu-Sakuya, it was nothing to worry about. Why would it be? They didn't even need to stop time. They were simply faster than everyone else.
Sakuya and Yu-Sakuya dashed past the other shoppers, snatching up the deli goodies in the blink of an eye. With their basket full, the two exchanged a glance in celebration of their victory.
Shopping bags in hand, they made their way home. Along the way, Yu-Sakuya's stomach let out a soft growl. So Sakuya took out a sandwich from the deli and handed it to her buddy.
Yu-Sakuya accepted it. Yet instead of devouring it, she ate with refined grace. Sakuya nodded in approval.
"Well done, Yu-Sakuya. Elegant as always."
