Watatsuki no Toyohime is one of the Watatsuki sisters who lives in the Lunar Capital. She possesses the ability to link the sea and the mountains, with mountains referring to Gensokyo, and the sea meaning the far side of the Moon. She lives on the Moon with her younger sister, Watatsuki no Yorihime, and is equipped with specialized gear known as a Frame Archive.

The Yahirowani Archive is a weapon carried by Watatsuki no Toyohime and one of the Frame Archives. It is derived from a yahirowani, a creature whose skeleton resembles both a crocodile and a shark. It can function as a hand ax or be split into up to six pieces for ranged attacks. Normally, it is kept as a single ax, which Watatsuki no Toyohime carries on her back.

"...Phew. That should take care of it." Watatsuki no Toyohime exhaled softly after dealing with the source of impurity that had drifted into the Lunar sea from Earth. In the past, almost nothing from Earth had ever made its way to the Moon, save for a rare exception or two. But ever since a certain incident, impurity had begun to spill over, leaving her scrambling to keep it under control. She thought that she had done enough to keep things stable for now, but just as she began to make her way back, she suddenly heard a voice.

"Toyohime, there you are!" Toyohime recognized the voice instantly. Standing behind her was her younger sister, Watatsuki no Yorihime, clad in her own Frame Archive. Although Yorihime's Archive wasn't quite the same as Toyohime's. "I've taken care of things here. I was just on my way back." "Oh, you just finished? That's unusually slow for you, Toyo." "...There was more impurity than I anticipated." "Anyway, would you mind helping me train the moon rabbits? They slack off the moment I'm the one running things. It might even be good exercise for you―" "What did you just say?" Toyohime's tone turned stern in an instant.

"Huh? I said it might be good exercise if you helped train the moon rabbits..." "So you're saying I've been taking it easy and getting a bit pudgy, is that it, Yori?" Toyohime asked calmly as she turned to face her. "N-No, that's not what I meant! You usually just don't get much exercise, so I thought it'd be nice if we could work out together for a change..." "That's enough, Yori. I understand perfectly. And actually... I just came up with a much better way to train." Toyohime raised the blade of her Yahirowani Archive at Yorihime. "A battle of bullets with Frame Archives in the mix sounds like a far better exercise than training moon rabbits." "T-Toyo?!" Watching Yorihime's ears twitch in panic, Toyohime sneered. "It's nice to mix things up once in a while, wouldn't you say?"
